Tua disciplined with the Bible and the Belt...AP style?

Anyone else see the piece on Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa on College Gameday? Both Tua and his mother say on camera that the father would discipline Tua with the Bible and The Belt...whether he didn’t perform well in school or on the football field...and they said it with a smile...

So why is this acceptable but Adrian Peterson was crucified for punishing his son with a Belt? Am I missing something here?
