No way to watch free However

Congrats to Steel High. 1-0 East.

McDevitt vs Aliquippa should be a good one tonight.

Cumberland Valley’s field should be a complete disaster by Saturday night (unless they put in turf). ;).

Certainly looks like turf to me.
Grass just doesn't cut it this time of year. Heinz was always a disaster after the WPIAL games.

Steelton and Aliquippa -- two old steel mill towns that fell on hard times when the mills downsized or closed.

Both with a great football tradition and have continued to compete and win with smaller enrollments.

Gotta pull for the old mill towns.

Playing Through the Wistle...read it. Demise of steel towns cause of unions, Ditka, Law and other Quip legends. JoePa recruiting Ditka and lost him cause PSU didn't have a dental school. Mrs. Ditka died in the same rowhome she raised Mike in, wouldn't move out even when he made it in the NFL and the Bears. Fascinating read.

It's basically far past the point of absurdity now with the catholic and charters...
No one actually believes Mcdevitt is a legitimate champion. This really represents the worst of what competition means. They recruit even out of state to beat the snot out of small local schools to the extent that they are seriously injuring boys at the smaller public schools.

Like I said before. I know of a captain at another school whose football career was ended and weeks of school were missed with brain injury due to Mcdevitt recruitment to uncompetitiveness.

...and the crooked PIAA just keeps on doing jack $hit about it...

Aliquippa is a single A school by enrollment butntheynopred to,play up AA for years and always won anyway. Now the PIAA forces them to play up in AAAA since they kept winning state titles.
...and there they are playing a team that recruits all across the nation...the PIAA is a joke.

The RB Williams from Bishop McDevitt is committed to Minny, which is why their coaches were at the game.

I believe PSU has offered one of the Aliquippa RB's but can't remember which one. Probably the smaller one that is super quick.

And PSU has reportedly offered the 2024 WR Rico Scott from McDevitt.

This is crazy talk.

I’ve looked up McDevitt’s schedule previously. They are not some big school playing small public schools. McDevitt is smaller than every school they play with the exception of one. (That school is the same size classification as them IIRC).

So what's your point?

I've watched their games in person and grew up playing in the backyard with Rico Scott's dad, Marky. His son apparently has his dad's speed but is much bigger. Their entire team are recruits and they go out of state to recruit. School size? That's laughable.

Most of the teams in the league they play in barely have a full 2 deep and that's with playing most of the kids on offense and defense. Mcdevitt's coach keeps their starters in up 60 to 70 until the final drive or so. The majority of the teams they play don't have a single player that would be on Mcdevitt's recruited 2 deep.

As for their league, they were placed in their division, (2nd highest), by the Mid Penn conference when State College, Altoona, etc joined years ago. I’m not sure what you want them to do about it. It wasn’t their decision and, IIRC, they were not happy with the change.

The top Mid Penn division are all 6A schools, (and placed that way at their insistence because of playoff seeding IIRC).

McD is a 4A school in a division of one 6A school, five 5A schools, and one other 4A school. Every school in their division has enough players for a 2 deep roster on both O and D with the exception of Lower Dauphin, (41 on their roster).

As for their recruits, please list them and the states they come from. I’m not trying to be snarky, (honest ;)). I’m truly interested to know.

And now we know why they are willing to play starters until the final whistle up 70 on teams that can barely or as you pointed out cannot field a 2 deep. Why they are willing to jeopardize the safety of boys on every other team that they play in their division that doesn't recruit.

Mcdevitt is willing to injure and humiliate kids because as you said, they weren't happy about not being included in the top division. Turn the other cheek catholics? No, they are scour the land to find mercenaries to maim and scar catholics. Nice set of values to teach their kids.

Stone Saunders, sophomore QB at McDevitt is the biggest prize here. Already has offers from many P5 schools including PSU. Michigan offered him as a freshman. I heard the radio broadcast of the game in Pittsburgh and they were saying the 16 year old will be playing not just on Saturdays but on Sundays as well.

How do you evaluate a qb with all day to throw, who doesn't have to move in the pocket, and whose WRs are open by 10 yards? Also, not likely to develop as well if never under pressure nor forced to go through progressions. This is stunting his growth at the position.

You should re-read what psu00 wrote. You got it backwards.

The Quips are also a major recruitment school from all over the Pittsburgh region. PIAA turns a blind eye

I have watched many games in their division. Most of the teams barely field a 2 deep. He pointed out that one team doesn't even have enough for a 2 deep. What I stated is accurate.

Just take the L and move on.
It's not my loss. It's the kids in that division including Mcdevitt's.

1. Player safety is being ignored and some very significant injuries have already resulted.

2. Winning 70-0 against teams that might have 1 kid that would make your 2 deep is achieving nothing.

3. Mcdevitt's coach leaving starters in up by 60 or 70 until the last drive or so teaches and models poor sportsmanship.

4. Mcdevitt's recruited kids aren't developing because they aren't being challenged in real competition.

5. Mcdevitt's recruited kids aren't being as seriously looked at by universities that know their deal because you cannot evaluate QBs with all day to throw and WRs open by at least 10 yards. You cannot evaluate RBs who run throw holes that are usually 5 yards wide.

6. No one is impressed by Mcdevitt doing this. I'm a catholic that grew up attending St Catherine's church and I am embarrassed and disgusted by what Mcdevitt is doing putting their own ego above kids' safety and welfare and teaching them horrible life lessons.
