Penn State looking good with a 15 point lead, up 39-24 with 5 minutes left in the half.

Since Reaves has come back, Penn State has been looking good. If they finish the regular season like they are playing now, I think they will get an invitation to the NIT, and have an outside chance of going dancing.

Penn State is looking good so far. Up by 21 with 2 minutes to go in the 1st half. Watkins is a force inside.

I don’t think I’ve witnessed a more egregious offensive foul only to be called against the defender (PSU)

Yeah, dropping the shoulder apparently is okay for Iowa to do. Penn State getting whistled a lot early in the second half.

Aside from the infamous Lickliter game, I don’t think I’ve witnessed a worse, more corruptly officiated game. That tall, bald-headed Guy is a complete crook.

Team will be considerably better next year if all the key cogs return. Replacing Garner will be improvement by subtraction. If it's Bostic that replaces Garner his length and athleticism will really help defensively. Reeves needs to commit to the weight room and put on 10+ lbs of muscle. Carr and Watkins could use some muscle as well. And Pierce should be locked in to Beaver stadium to run the steps for an hour a day, and spend another hour in the weight room to try and develop defensive quickness and toughness and become a legit B10 big man.

The talent is there. It would have been great if Pat could have added an athletic big man in the 2017 or 2018 classes. The question remains, is Pat the guy to get the most out of the current roster...........

Except they’ll probably lose Watkins and Carr to the draft....then where will they be?

If they wanna bolt for some decent (250k-500k) European money, they could do that, but the idea that either Watkins or Carr are ready for the NBA is absolutely ludicrous. They are AT BEST both mid-late 2nd rounders right now. A chance they wouldn't even get drafted.

Both guys have tons of flaws that they need to work on, especially Carr. A PG with mediocre court vision, average athleticism, questionable shot selection, and awful defense isn't exactly a top priority for NBA teams.

I'd wager dollars to donuts that they return if Pat returns. In which case, Reaves, Carr, Watkins, Stevens, Wheeler, Bostick, Dread, Bolton is almost certainly a team that is Top 25 next season if the returning players just make normal progression.

Agreed. And when it is all said and done Watkins, not Carr, will be the better NBA prospect.

There are some mock drafts that have Carr going at the end of the first round of the 2018 draft.

I live in Kentucky and have watched their team quite a bit over the years....Carr and Watkins are far more ready for the NBA than many of UK’s guys that go early and get drafted. Either you’re wishful thinking or you’re selling them short. And if they’re going to go, they will whether Pat stays or not and vice versa.

Name those Kentucky players that you think shouldn't have went in and then I'll name about 50 NCAA guards that are having a better season than Tony Carr, including one on his own team.

Tony faults:

- Borderline Blind. He has a guy with one of the most massive wingspans he may ever play with and routinely doesn't see him wide open underneath the basket.
- Mediocre athleticism/speed. I've watched guys who will never sniff the NBA routinely blow past Tony on the dribble and easily shake him on a PnR.
- He does sink a lot of threes but he's got a very slow release on his jumper that he will NEVER get off in the NBA. The game is light years faster and the open looks are few and far between.
- His best offensive weapon (besides hitting his slow release open threes) is posting up and attacking smaller guards. In The Show, those opportunities will come up a fraction as much as he's able to do it now.

So we have a meh athlete whose strength is bullying smaller kids with his strength, and doesn't play any defense. Yea that'll play in the NBA. I'm sure the scouts are just fascinated with his 39.8% two-point field goal percentage (35% in conference).

Penn State Basketball Fan Disease: When we get a decent player, we automatically think he's NBA bound.

Tony Carr isn't a pimple on DJ Newbill's ass. DJ was more athletic, better getting to the rim, better finishing around the rim, a better ball handler, better defensively, and every bit as good a jump shooter as Carr is, and HE couldn't make it in the NBA. DJ scored 20 a game and was more efficient doing it while not having a single teammate that could start on this 2017-18 team. I could only imagine how spectacular he could have been for us if he had a Reaves or Watkins playing along side him.

Reaves will play in the NBA in a niche hustling two-way bench role before Carr ever dreams about it. Reaves possesses NBA athleticism, is a shutdown perimeter defender, an excellent ball handler, makes smart decisions, is non-stop 100% hustle. Carr has none of those attributes. This team fell off the end of the world when Josh was out of the lineup.

Tony will end up in Europe, carve out a lengthy career bullying smaller guards and make quite a bit of money doing it, but anyone who thinks his game is currently NBA worthy is delusional.

I’ll let the NBA people determine that instead of you. Carr and Watkins are way more NBA ready than any of Kentucky’s guys playing this year, yet they’re talking about two of them going after this year. Then you have the Harrison brothers, Willie Cauley-Stein who went out after his junior year and was awful, Monk last year had a ton of flaws in his game, but he went out early. Most of the guys who come out early have flaws, but the NBA knows they can develop them. I don’t think anything specifically because I’m a Penn State fan, that’s a dumb thing to post. I see a lot of young college players who have way too many flaws to go early, yet they do. Carr and Watkins may not go, but my point is if they do, this team will be horrible next year.
