TV Alert. Tonight on BTN PSU MBB @ Northwestern at 9 pm

It's been a back-and-forth game but are down 34-29 at the half. Boo Buie has 10. The guy can flat out shoot.

…Northwestern really knows how to “take a dive”…!
… their defenders crowd the offensive player and then throw their arms up in the air and fall backward to the floor…!
…they must all take acting classes in NW’s School of Theater … ala Charlton Heston…

Nice to see some of the transfers playing well. Lee & White making a difference on the defensive end and on the boards. 22 had a great game.

Missing those 3 games due to covid kind of hurts bc it would most likely be 3 more wins, but if we can manage to go .500 in conference play it won’t matter anyways, and we will be going dancing! Huge win! Big opportunity vs Purdue at home on Saturday. Hopefully the BJC is packed!

I was screaming about the flopping all night.

The BIG network studio guys got it wrong when they said PSU only lost two transfers. We lost Wheeler, M. Jones, and I Brockington which was a lot.

Pickett was a great pick up by the others are only okay but have served a very important role.

This Greg Lee that is a forward hasn’t played, but is a bigger body at 6’9”. From what I’ve read he should be a very solid player for us and help Harrar. I think today was his first game for us, so hopefully he makes another solid transfer in. Also, I think he balances the roster a little bit better with 2 bigger bodies to rotate down low.

This was Lee’s third game. You can tell that he has talent and more than just a tall stiff. He and J White definitely give PSU some presence in the paint while Harrar is out They have been fine but I expect them to get better with time.

Cornwall had done very little; he looks like he has some talent but he just cannot make an open shot. D. Johnson played better in the short time he was in.

In the first half- which is all I could watch- I thought that Lee is a substantially "bigger" presence on both ends than White. Took a few 3s early but also went low for offensive boards and got a foul on a NW flop in the paint.

Pritchett has obviously been a much bigger contributor than Cornwall to this point. Scott looks like he has the year off. So if you look at it realistically Shrew plugged 3 holes with 5 recruits. IMHO I'd rather still have Buttrick over White but will take Prichett as a decent trade for Buckets (who was my favorite player...seemed a bit lost in the Gator game last night vs Bama).

What we didn't cover is the driving ability of Brock...which has not been replaced. Overall a great job by Coach Shrew and the team so far.

BTW- Remember pre BTN when the only PSU hoops game we could see on TV most years was the NW game...typically in a late mid week or Sunday 6pm time slot. There must've been a contract clause to feature every team at least once and ESPN killed 2 birds w one stone.

Hey, you almost said something nice there. Take a couple Tylenol for the pain and rest awhile.
Are you one of the people who believes we fans are not allowed to be critical of our teams?

Did you watch the end of the game? I thought PSU did a nice job of fighting to get back in the game and then to take a lead. I was being critical of the careless inbounds play under our basket with two seconds left - a careless play that ended up with NW taking a shot to tie that missed by a few inches then fouling our guy with one second left.

All of the effort of overcoming a ten point deficit was nearly wasted by one careless play.

Does PSU ever handle the last minute or two of a close basketball game well when they have the lead?

Idk, I like this team. They play hard on both ends. They hit foul shots down the stretch. You can tell Shrew gets in their ass. Not as talented as a few teams we've had recently but probably will have a better record. Good hire so far.

Considering how they played against a really good LSU team on a neutral court, they're obviously capable of competing against good teams, and they probably should win at least a third of their Big 10 games.

PIckett is very good, can do a bit of everything. He is less athletic than Brockington but does much of the same things and is more consistent on O, so I can basically say they are a wash. Lee will end up a very good piece for this team once he gets his legs under him and understand the role he needs to play, far superior to Buttrick. White is not the offensive player that Buttrick was but he is far better defensively. TB got pushed around as an undersized 5, White can at least hold his own and rebounds much better. He is a decent 3rd big.

Cornwall has been a huge disappointment, he was supposed to be a 40+% shooter from deep, right now I would trust johnson on the floor more than him. He's making shots and is a bigger body. Sessoms has his moments but is not consistent enough to take over Jones scoring either. I think this team will be better than the one last year but the bottom of the conference has picked up a bit from last year so it's a little harder to move up the rankings. If they win 7 league games I would take it.
