Don't have the internet numbers yet, but it's good to see ratings continuing to increase. This bodes well for ESPN to continue featuring wrestling.

NCAA Wrestling Final Hits Four-Year High

  • The final day of the NCAA wrestling championships earned 735,000 viewers on ESPN Saturday night, up 12% from last year (655K), up 6% from 2015 (694K) and the largest audience for the event since 2013 (860K). The 0.4 final rating was even with the past two years. Semifinal coverage on Friday pulled a 0.3 (flat) and 443,000 (-4%). As previously noted, Thursday’s coverage posted a 153% increasethanks to a move from ESPNU to ESPN.

PSU Wrestling is fun to watch, and we have a large alumni base. I know lots of other team's fans watch too, so not going overboard with that comment...though it is a factor.

Can't be true. We are not good for the "health" of the sport according to many competitors...

I thought PSU domination was ruining wrestling? It seems PSU domination is growing the sport- weird how top programs in high population density states creates a larger overall fan base.

A strong <strike>ND</strike> PSU is good for college <strike>football</strike> wrestling.

I have said it before and shall repeat it. The eastward shift of the power structure (Penn St and Ohio St) naturally has more people paying attention, but it also has drawn wrestling into the awareness of media capitals.

Stanley75 on HR cracked a funny. He posted just think what the ratings will be when Heil graduates.
Heil bumps to 149. ESPN plays up the 2 timer versus the 2 timer. Everybody pretends the match is a toss-up and excitement grows nationally. Record viewership for the last match of the night triples previous record. Everybody gets to watch Heil wrestle a match where lots of points are scored.

Or he pins him in the first pd.
