Just spoke with someone who is close to Ryan Odom (Utah State HC) and I'm told that there was some talk between PSU and Odom back before Shrewsberry was hired, but nothing more than that. Now I was told Odom would love to have the Penn State job this time around, but it doesn't seem like there is much interest on Penn State's side as they have other candidates higher. With that being said I'll be taking him off the hot board barring a change of heart on PSU's side. As for Odom, it sounds like he is the top name for South Florida currently.
Now on the Adam Fisher front, I'm told he is a finalist for the Temple head coach job. Other names there include Karl Hobbs (Rutgers), Pat Chambers (I'm confident we all know who he is) and a few others. The latest is if he gets the Temple job, then he obviously leaves to be a head coach for the first time in his career. If he doesn't get the Owls job, there's a chance he stays on at Penn State, but we are also hearing Notre Dame and Micah Shrewsberry will make a push for him.
Also two new names we are adding to the board is Wes Miller, we mentioned him in another thread the other day, but apparently his name is trending a bit upward here as he was Pat Kraft's short list at previous stops. Another name to keep a close eye on is Mike Boynton, he is a New York native who's been the head coach of Oklahoma State since 2017. In that same timespan, he's brought the Cowboys to the NCAA Tournament once and made the NIT quarterfinals twice, most recently this past season.
