In this case, Washington stays ahead of Michigan and the debate for the 4th spot comes down to Washington and Penn State. The ONLY edge Washington will hold over Penn St. is the fact that they have one less loss. Quality wins and strength of schedule fall heavily in Penn State's favor.
Scenario #2:
Alabama, Clemson and Colorado win. I believe this puts that 4th spot up for grabs between Penn State and Michigan. I believe this is bad for Penn State. Penn State has better quality wins than Michigan, but the 49-10 beat down is really going to hurt in this scenario.
