1.1 million tix sold in 24 hours!!
Linc in Philly sold out for weeks for June 18

Saw them in Chicago at one of 2 sold out shows-- from field got same rush as at end of Ohio St game!! Entire stadium jumping up and down.

I saw them in Pittsburgh 30 years ago for sold out Joshua Tree Tour-- Pittsburgers now don't go to Pitt games or to best concert of summer!!!

What's wrong with Pittsburgh? Maybe they just have no desire to spend their hard earned money on a 40 year old rock band.

So much culture and things to see and do in the middle of the week: the opera, the zoo, the theater, walking around Oakland trying to find Pitt's football stadium, etc.

Maybe the people there are smarter than other folks. ;)
I have always taken exception to those who feel they know best how other people should spend their money. I know a number of people who think U2 is one of the most overrated rock bands ever. I have no opinion, but who is to say which side is correct? There is an arrogance to those who think "I like something, and will spend my money supporting it, so you should too, or there's something wrong with you."

I live in the Burgh, it is not the largest city in the world and there is tons going on. Lots of concerts, theater, festival weekends, sports, dining, and vacation. 40,000 is a pretty solid crowd for U2. Why all the hand wringing and whining?

And a 60 year old Doo-Wop group is worth it, with half or more of its original members unfortunately gone?:);)

Tens of thousands will go to see U2 'With or Without You'.

To the credit of the band, they didn't seem disappointed by the numbers. Great show. Have you ever gone to see a show with a poor turnout (not saying 40K is poor) and the band either mails it in or just seems bitchy? ... like they're going to take it out on the fans who actually did show up?

I have never paid a dime to see a Doo-Wop group live, nor will I.
As to U2, I have no problem with people going. They can spend their money any way they want. As my 2nd post on this thread states, what bothers me is someone suggesting that if I don't spend my money on something they like, such as U2, there is something wrong with me.

There's nothing wrong with you:).I wouldn't pay the money either (but there's definitely something wrong with meo_O). I think I told you before that one of my brothers-in-law loves Doo-Wop. He'll drag my sister to Doo-Wop reviews, you know, several groups, once in awhile. She likes the shows but isn't crazy about them. He also watches the PBS shows you're probably familiar with.

Awesome- same old Pittsburgh jokes, when half of the city went to Penn State.

Everybody is saving money for Penn St footballs tickets due to Step increase

Pittsburgh jokes are generally based on ignorance or jealousy by those with an anti-Pittsburgh bias. Events like last night's Stanley Cup win drive them crazy.

I'm kind of surprised U2 had Pittsburgh on the tour schedule to begin with. They have to know where they will likely sell the most tickets and Pittsburgh prob wasn't one of them.

U2 always plays Pittsburgh. Have since at least the Boy Tour in 1981. I found a site that has them playing Pittsburgh 10 times since 1981.

The crowd size was fine. There were 40,000 on a cold Wednesday night that constantly threatened rain.
