I was very very disappointed, way way way too much testosterone and egos on the field tonight.

The officials let the game get totally out of control, I’m surprised someone didn’t get badly hurt with all the late cheap sideline hits. It got worse as the game went along. Slade got nailed when he was 5 yds out of bounds.

Plus you have the kid that TWICE kicked the ball into the stands after a play.....where in the hell did that come from? I’m glad he’s not one of our recruits.

Then they let the clock run continuously for the last 4-5 minutes of the game just to get the game over by 9PM so ESPN could move on.

And then on the final onside kick AT LEAST 6 of the white team were offside, some by almost 5 yds.

Some great talent and certainly some future CFB and NFL stars.....but all the dirty plays and cheap shots was just disappointing.

That said, we got the announcement that we thought we were gonna get tonight. OUTSTANDING!

The other highlight, to me, was Slade's sideline interview. He represents really well already.

Someone mentioned that in another thread, I missed that, was out walking the basset hound.

Kudos kudos kudos to Franklin. I don’t always agree with his in-game decisions, but he is absolutely nailing it BIG TIME with his recruitment of class acts of STUDENT-ATHLETES. Absolutely mind-blowingly impressive.....and it ain’t over!

Well, anything Deion Sanders is involved with what do you expect. We had four players in the game. Next year I would be happy if we had none, and not due to lack of talent.

Slade is smaller than I expected, and I don't think the competition in his highlight reel was anything to write home about. Hope he proves me wrong, but the second coming he probably is not.

I think he played well.Nice run after the catch for a td.Classy kid as well.Ithink he is going to be a terrific tailback in the rpo offense.

Re-watch the first hit by Bama DE recruit. It looked like a forearm shiver to the QB's throat/head area. I thought for sure it would be flagged, but nothing.

Agree. It was unwatchable.
But then I didn't expect much with Deon as a coach.
There's a reason it was on ESPN2 at 6, if it continues the way last night went it will be on ESPNU at 4 on Thurs. in 2 years.

That was another part that was particularly disturbing. I saw about 3 hits last night that if they were in a college game, outside of the refs of our game, would have been tossed for targeting. And its a freaking all star highschool game. And I wouldn't want any part of the kid that kicked the ball into the stands. He has Maclin written all over him.

Agree with th OP. That game was way out of control. Every play seemed to feature a defender trying to make a highlight worthy tackle.
The safety (Foster?) and others were head hunting the entire game. Glad no one was seriously hurt but i wouldn't be shocked to find out one or two kids played through concussions.

Agree that he is smaller than I thought but I was impressed with what I saw, considering how bad the white teams OL was. From what I was told his competition was legit.

I watched his highlight reel and was very impressed. He was a man among boys. Super speed and elusiveness. I think he will push Sanders for playing time next year.

He is really fast and was very good in the open field. The OL was awful and the team didn't do much from the LOS other than QB after being flushed from the pocket.

I suspect he'll put on 20 lbs of muscle and play at 205 or so. There are plenty of success stories in college ball and the NFL at that size. Miles Gaskins, who had 98 yards rushing in the bowl, is 5-10 and 191. This is almost exactly Slade's size.

BTW, he's ranked as the #2 RB recruit in the nation.

Good thinking. Get ripping on the kid before he even sets foot on campus. Why wait, right?
He’s not Derek Jeter or some other New York Yankee, so he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt with mgkpsu

Slade’s QBs were atrocious. I would have been dumping it to him every other play as it was wide open

+1 but then the white's OL was pretty bad as well. Did Shorter even play?

Completely agree. I turned it off after seeing the lack of sportsmanship being demonstrated. The dirty hits, the kicking of balls into stands after returns, and the standing over players jawing was too much for me. I just figured I would get the announcement we were looking for via this board.

Deon certainly taugh pass interference. I totally agree that the refs allowed this game to get out of control. There also was a difference in the coaching - clearly better with the team in black.

Yes, he looked much smaller and reminded me of Mark Allen.

announcers were pretty vocal about some issues. not sure why the producers kept showing players dancing. but the bottom line was that the refs let it get out of control. perhaps they didn't want to show up players but there were several "in game" transgressions.

The second coming, didn't you read his post? Now, the second coming of whom, I'm not sure.
Take a Midol and unbunch your panties. To me he looks even smaller than what he is listed, which is a personal observation, and not "ripping". And I don't know of his league being a hotbed for high school football competition, which is, again, not "ripping" anyone. The fan boys on this site who overhype every player of ours is just childish and annoying, and last time I checked other opinions are allowed. Ultimately time will tell regarding Slade, and I wish him the best.

You like going to the Midol card, don't you? You must have stock in that company.

And you were crapping on the kid and I called you out, as did others. You don't like it, tough.

He played against the #1 Colonial Forge, #5 Freedom, #6 Woodbridge, #17 Battlefield, and #22 Hayfield ranked 6A teams in the state of Va. and he ran for 326 yds and 4 TDs vs Freedom....but yeah his competition isn't that great...and the Woodbridge Defense has about 6 guys going D1.

Re: his size, I haven't seen anyone credible dispute the official listing of 5'9'' 185. That's obviously not the build people think of when they think "feature back" but we need to recognize this kid's mold is more Barry Sanders/Reggie Bush than your classic between the tackles grinder. No one had any problem with Bush's size when he tore up college football, and he was 6 feet 205 tops.

Give Slade till September and he will probably check in at 190-195. His game is all about making people miss, like Bush. And like Bush did with Lendale White, Slade will likely form a dangerous platoon rather than handling 25-30 touches every game. Bottom line is I see a tremendously dangerous weapon that will be used optimally in our offense, and I'm not worried about his size at all.

Deion will take the limelight away from any Player the moment he has a chance. Case in point, their first TD, Sanders had to run on the field all the way down to the goal line to congratulate him.....or was it to highlight himself?

I have never typed the word "Midol" anywhere before today, and only did it to upset you, because you cried about that in the past with someone else. You clearly have issues with reality, because in addition to that, you also claim that other posters took issue with what I said, when in reality a few agreed, including

.

If you don't like it when someone makes an observation that isn't 100% over the top fawning, then TOUGH. Grow up, bro.

I did not see the game but when I watched the practice clip (lunatic) and saw the action between Georgia's huge OG versus whomever he was up against, there was a sense of uh-oh coming, dead ahead. So not surprised to hear it was an out-of-control mess.

So long as our guys didn't get hurt, I'll count the blessings and wait for them to arrive at PSU!

not seeing much on how the early signing period affects this game. This is the first time that the majority of these kids were already committed. Could that have led to miscreant behavior? The star of the game, #11, is not committed and his offer sheet wasn't that great so am wiling to bet his phone is blowing up today.

Why play in this game now? A couple of players got hurt. Years prior, I can see this being a showcase for offers but if you are already committed.....might colleges start discouraging this game? Can they move it up to before LOI day?

Didn't see the game. Who is "Number 11"?

I didn't realize that our fans were the ones who ranked him as the number 2 RB in the country.

By the way, Bryce Love is 5' 9" 180lbs and he carried the ball 263 times while missing 2 games.

I turned on one of the televised practices earlier in the week. They were showing D lineman going through a drill and a fight broke out. The scuffle went off the edge of the field and up against a fence. One of the guys was injured. They ended up abandoning the drill. I think the whole week was a clash of giant egos.

WOW. Did not know that but after viewing that crap last night I'm not surprised.
Everyone involved should be embarrassed and some should have their asses called on the carpet for risking injuries.

Or 5'10" 196 lbs- whatever works for your argument.

So sorry for looking at someone and thinking they look a little smaller than stated. Can you ever forgive me?

Limited in how much they CAN move it up, given these kids have championships, classes, exams, holidays and all that's going on at the collegiate level. WIthout the holiday break, when will they fit in the all-star game practice schedules?

As for their future in general, it's not a simple question. Clearly there's more benefit to the most kids in performing at camps and getting all-star game invites than actually playing in the game. These games have minimal interest except for recruiting interest--and most of the recruiting seems to be done by that point.

If I were a coach, once a kid is signed I don't think I'd want him taking that kind of risk, especially with limited control over the the safety and cleanliness of play. Earlier camps and showcases will likely become a greater focus..

Good points. I think these games are in trouble. a lot of the reason to watch is to see the kids declare. If 70% are already committed, what is the point of the game? Just a matter of time until there is a significant event (fight, injury, law suit) that kills them.
