Don't forget Chip Kelly to Oregon.... (But I think Kelly vehemently stated that he wasn't leaving 49ers.).

I hope someone calls out that idiot Levy who said Moorhead to UConn was a done deal.

Playing my senior "memory" card here: didn't Edsall pull a rather unsatisfactory exit from UConn when he left? I don't pay too much attention to programs other than PSU's, but I seem to recall old Randy left UConn immediately after the bowl game, leaving a poor taste in the mouths of UC players and fans.

If correct, why would the admin rehire him?

But what about Moorhead? ESPN said it was a fine deal. I can't believe they got something that wrong.

Yea, believe it was Steve Levy of ESPN who claimed "reliable sources" were telling him that UConn's leading target was Moorhead....and it was all but a done deal. I guess Mr. Levy's "sources" aren't so reliable after all.

Is Foge Fazio still around? Would love to see him propped up on the Pitt sideline.

Yeah...IIRC, he lost the fiesta bowl versus OK but instead of flying home on the team plane, he flew to MD to interview for the HC opening. Then, when he took the job, he didn't announce it to the team so they found out via friends or text messages.

Yes, that seems to be what I remember, as well. Thanks for affirming; I just don't trust my memory of any football item unrelated to Penn State.

Think Edsall was working for the Detroit Lions Front-Office prior to UConn announcing his hiring today... Who knows, maybe they put a large "poison pill" into his contract (i.e, buyout clause).

A "large poison pill buyout clause"?

For the guy who makes the coffee in the morning?
Or for the new HC at UConn?

Either way.......o_O

Couldn't give a hoot who UConn does or doesn't hire.....but would assume they've protected themselves in some way as the saying "fool me once shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" applies to UConn and Edsall. If I were UConn, I'd use whatever leverage they had to write a large buyout relative to the guarantees after Edsall Part I.

is $3 mil the first year, and $1 mil per year decrease enough?? Either way that's what he got!!

UConn: ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reports Randy Edsall has a five year deal worth $1 million per (with opportunities to earn more). $3 million buyout in year 1, decreasing by $1 million per year

On the one hand I am relieved, I thought the money was too much for JoMo to turn down. On the other hand I am crushed that ESPN
Made a mistake. They were the last vestiges of quality
Journalism.
Can' t believe they got it wrong.

How much was the contract offer $$$$$?

Met Edsall at the Big Ten Luncheon couple years back. Seemed like a decent guy. Glad he got another chance to coach again.
