Putin conceded pretty much nothing. The prisoner exchange is nice but basically window dressing. The ceasefire on energy facilities was put on the table weeks ago by Russia. The bilateral expert talks are significant but unlikely to achieve concrete results in the near term. Therefore, the conflict will go on...and likely intensify as summer approaches.
I think Zelensky and his European friends should be more than a little nervous at this point because Putin clearly feels the Russians have the upper hand and moreover clearly expects to retain the upper hand in the coming weeks. You wonder if the Russian leader knows something the other side doesn't.
With both Russia and Ukraine digging into positions that seemingly can't be reconciled or compromised, it would seem the only way this madness can end is with a clear-cut military breakthrough by one side or the other. Yet it's hard to see how that can possibly happen...unless Ukraine finally runs out of warm male bodies under the age of 70.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is hardening an alliance with some key European powers while America under Trump looks to restore some semblance of a relationship with Russia even as Moscow consolidates its own developing ties with China and North Korea. And all the while, the killing goes on.
What a friggin' bloody preventable mess. Folly of historic dimensions. Another disaster served up by Dem-Media. Years from now, they'll get around to admitting that while shrugging their shoulders...just as they've done with their pandemic disaster...and their open borders disaster...and their incapacitated-President disaster...and the list goes on...
