With the McHale stream, I didn't like McHale's Navy, got me to thinking about underrated Sitcoms. For me Taxi is a winner. Created some fabulous careers.

Community. Thankfully, it’s streaming on Netflix now. It was created by Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty), executive produced by the Russo Bros. (Avengers Endgame, Infinity War, etc.) and starred Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Allison Brie, Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase, and Gillian Jacobs. It’s about a study group of friends who attend a community college - John Oliver also appears and there are well known guest stars throughout. Went six seasons.

Taxi was great, but hardly underrated, imo. I think it won multiple awards and was consistently highly rated in its time slot. If I recall, anyway.

But it's an interesting topic. What some consider a great sitcom, others don't like, even though their other sitcom tastes are very similar. For me, that's Friends. I never really got into it, but it was widely popular for a long time.

I think of Third Rock From the Sun and News Radio as two sitcoms that I found to be absolutely great, but relatively underrated. I cannot find either of those on the hundreds of cable channels, but would certainly watch them if I do.

One that is not a sitcom in the usual sense, but not sure how else to classify it, was Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, the Denis Leary show on FX that lasted just 2 seasons. Great cast, purty wimmins, and even some really good music. I really liked that show, and I may be the only one.

I'm interested in seeing others that get mentioned. There are always some hidden gems that only a few sharp minds seem to find.

I didnt' like McHales Navy or Hogans Heroes...yea I'm that guy.
For me, I thought Buffy The Vampire Slayer was very, very underrated and this is my favorite episode. and its all done silently after the first 4 minutes. Brilliant and those guys are fn' creepy as hell...

I know the guy who played Riley Finn on that show, Marc Blucas.

Agree I don't think Taxi was underrated at all.
Agree about 3rd rock and News Radio.

What about Barney Miller?
I would add two others for me...
Kate and Allie and then Soap. I loved Soap.

New Radio was a great show. “Rocket Fuel malt liquor! Damn!”

I really enjoyed this show called Still Standing when it was on.

Interestingly the female lead is a billionaire.

Agree News Radio was a very funny show and according to IMDB threatened with cancellation every year it was on.

Unfortunately, when Phil Hartman passed the show was never quite the same.

Another favorite of mine that didn't make it past the second season but I think that might have been because of the writers strike.
In any case I thought it was pretty good and funny...
Pushing Daisies...

gotta go with Northern Exposure

The Munsters & The Addams Family, silly 3 Stooges stuff, but it'll make you laugh. Same with Green Acres.

Watched a Munsters episode two days ago where Herman gets a basketball scholarship, funny thing they threw out recruiting perks in the skit like it was an accepted thing, circa 64.

I loved Third Rock, John Lithgow was absolutely out of his mind on that show and I bet he loved every minute of it. The network (NBC) killed that show. I would watch it one week, then look for it the next week only to find NBC had moved it to a different time slot. Two shows, both on basic cable, that I religiously followed that I do not think got the publicity they deserved were Major Crimes and Burn Notice.

A show I used to watch was the Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Either Netflix or Amazon Prime is carrying it. 3rd Rock was outstanding in every aspect.

yeah, watched it the other day, that was a Third Rock from Sun was a good show.

Although not underrated, when i rewatched 30 Rock with Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, that was underrated in the sense it was one of the best written comedies ever. The second time around you really see how great it was.

Night Court always was underated as it was after the huge hits of Family Ties & Cheers when NBC Thursday nite primetime dominated.

Kelsay Grammar in Frasier is a show that could be called under rated. Very well written and acted and lasted for a decade longer than most shows.

As much as I liked Cheers and I did, I think Frasier was better.
But in both cases, Cheers and Fraiser, had some of the best casts ever.
And Christopher Lloyd (not the actor) is a genius.

Was just watching this episode of Cheers last night. I'll put the line at the 2:40 mark as among the show's best ever.
