Underrated TV sitcoms

The Munsters & The Addams Family, silly 3 Stooges stuff, but it'll make you laugh. Same with Green Acres.

Watched a Munsters episode two days ago where Herman gets a basketball scholarship, funny thing they threw out recruiting perks in the skit like it was an accepted thing, circa 64.
@ other episodes...WhenHerman went golfing and when he tried out for the baseball . Leo Durocher was on that episode.

The Carol Burnett Show
The Bob Newhart Show
Mork and Mindy
My Three Sons
Batman
Coach
60's and 70's! My kind of shows!
The early years of Happy Days were good. Then, it went downhill.
Laugh-In was HUGE in the late 60's!

You have to crack up at a vampire with a Brooklyn accent, ( Munsters) a guy who can put a light bulb in his mouth to light up ( Addams ) and a pig who watches tv ( Green Acres )

I think Leave it to Beaver reruns are underrated - not sure if it was acclaimed when it was on the air. Story lines still hold true - to a degree, and it's actually funny. Married With Children was great and underappreciated (until Marcie started directing, then it was unwatchable). I thought Wings was definitely underrated, as was Malcolm in the Middle, My Name is Earl, & Third Rock. Also, King of Queens is very watchable. 2 funny stars + Arthur and decent writing.

I once thought about writing a book entitled "The Life Teachings of Larry Mondello".

Not sure if these were underrated but I loved Happy Endings and Scrubs.

Side note, my wife used to like Big Bang Theory. I cannot stand TV shows with a “live audience”. The fake laughing drives me up the wall.

I know the guy who played Riley Finn on that show, Marc Blucas.
Couple guys I grew up with lost a nail-biter to his team in the PIAA Western semis or finals. They long lament being sent to Erie for that game and some tough calls. Girard vs Bishop McCort. Girard blew out everybody else they played, so it was kind of the de facto championship. I always forget to rub it in a little bit that Blucas went on to do love scenes with hot actresses.

I was at that game sitting right behind Girard’s bench. I was really good buddies with a couple guys that played for them the year before and they got us some unbelievable seats. That was a hell of a game. Blucas took over at the end.

I also liked Wings, WKRP, and Nightcourt. Frazier was well known but still under appreciated IMO. It’s 25-30 years later and it’s episodes still hold up with some of the best sitcom writing ever.

I was a big Kate & Allie fan. The show was funny but oh, how I loved Susan St. James & Jane Curtin.:)

Kate and Allie followed by Newhart on Monday nights was great. Network TV really sux compared to those days

Really cool story knowing where Blucas ended up. I was golfing with one of those guys the other day and just thinking "where the hell did 30 years go?". I was a wrestler and went to a different school, but I lived next door to the basketball court, and played a ton of ball with 4 or 5 of those BM guys. We'd shovel the courts of snow as soon as the temps were playable and keep playing until football season. Now the courts are mostly empty. Glad I'm from the 80s :).

Mr. Belvedere.

Why is the thread about 'underrated' sitcoms and half of the posts are about Cheers? That was like the biggest one of all time

Wings is a great show that never got a lot of attention. Interesting characters, great writing and superb acting.
“I don’t think someone with antlers has room to criticize”.
Lol

Antonio, while running his hand across a red Ferrari, “driving this care is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman”
Joe: “Oh really Antonio? How?”
Antonio: “I’ve never done either”.

Well--Al Lewis (Grandpa) would have been an expert on recruiting and possible violations. He was well known for his basketball fanaticism and ability to hook up kids and coaches. He may or may not have been clean but he certainly knew what was going on back in the day.

I saw a Blucas/Girard play multiple times back in those days. Very good player, went on to play at Wake Forest, I believe.
His dad, Wally, was the Girard Superintendent of Schools and president of District 10. Girard always got favorable playoff sites and officiating crews. Edinboro might as well have been the home floor for both the girls and boys at playoff time.

That was the exact same thing with me and the Girard guys....I went to a different school but played on the courts with those guys. Blucas had a great career at Wake Forest (he ended up being Tim Duncan’s best man at his wedding), played a year in Europe (not fast enough for the NBA) then got into acting. He’s had a very good acting career and is doing very well.
