Up 90 to 76 with just over a minute to go, game over, right?

I was watching this game as I'm a basketball junkie and a degenerate gambler and had New Mexico -2 1/2. I was about to write it off as a win and head to bed but was reading thru a couple of articles online so I kept the game on. The shots that Nevada threw in from 3 were no less of the circus variety. I had seen them play around Xmas because they played against my team (Towson) and I knew they had this capability but this was otherworldly. Every good comeback, though, needs a little help from the other team and New Mexico did their part by missing 6 of 10 free throws down the stretch. But Nevada scored on every single possession in that last 1:30. Then for good measure, they hit a contested 3 with :05 left to win it in OT. The guy that hit that shot scored 45 in the game. Just an incredible comeback by Nevada and meltdown by New Mexico. Goes to show just how important free throws are in the game and an alarmingly large amount of college teams seem to not grasp that concept.

I recall a PSU game when I was in school (ca 1976-1978) where PSU had a 10 point lead with a minute left (vs Delaware?) and lost. In regulation. Without the 3 point shot.

But they also won a game vs Rutgers down 30 with about 15 to go during that time period.

PSU played Delaware just about every year in the 70s......but never lost to them (at least not in the 70s).....so it must have been someone else

The John Bach years were full of plenty of losses to choose from

Memories get fuzzy over the years........I know

They also LOST Robert Morris, Drexel, and Philadelphia Textile around 1981.

Now THAT is playing some bad basketball.

Dick MUMMA where are you? LOL!!!!

Remember seeing Dick Mumma around campus. Only seven footer I've seen who couldn't dunk.

Yeah, that was 40 years ago--and I cannot tell from the records what game it was. Maybe they just blew the lead and then won in OT....

I recall a Penn State football game when we were up by 14 points with about 7 minutes to go and still lost by 3. I can't remember when, but it was somewhere in California :)
