So I asked for some advice a while back about putting my 6th grader into the HS room for club practice. Its been a couple months now and I have to say that it was definitely a net positive. There were growing pains for sure but he has definitely made a jump and once he got used to the physicality he is enjoying it. He has put a few beatdowns on some freshman and took some beatdowns as well. The proof was in the pudding when he went to a tournament against kids his own age last weekend. Not great competition but he wrestled one of the kids 6 months ago and won 6-2. Over the weekend it was a 15-0 tech. A few more tournaments for the year, then I get to just sit in the stands and watch football and be a dad.

I tried to hold back, but I can’t:

FULL COURT PRESS!!!

That's awesome.

Happy for you both.

When the time comes we know a guy in recruiting circles that can get a video out to a few people.

Happy for you and your son. Hope he enjoyed his beat downs:)But just so I'm clear he went to a tournament with weak competition and beat a kid he beat before and that's the "proof in the pudding"?Not sure if you watched the NCAA tournament last week but many adult men were winning matches they had lost 10 days earlier. If you decide to take him to higher level tournaments please keep us posted it's fun to hear dads talk about thier sons/daughters growing in the sport.

Thats not exactly what I meant. It was a Rocky mountain nationals run tournament. Usually really tough. Im not saying the kids were fish, just not a bracket full of hammers. I was just saying that he really widened the gap on a tough kid that he wrestled close earlier in the year. Its been pretty hit or miss this year, some of the tournaments are loaded, others not so much. Its been a weird year.
