Article 1: Abuse of Power-
The allegation: Trump withheld $400M in aid to the Ukraine in exchange for investigating Joe Biden.
Facts-
[wiTHˈhōld, wiT͟Hˈhōld]
VERB
withheld (past tense) · withheld (past participle)
3. A secondary witness to the charges, Ambassador Sondland, testified that the president wanted nothing from the Ukraine.
Not to mention this isn't the first time conditions have been placed on foreign aid by the Executive Branch. Taxpayers should hope conditions are placed on foreign aid because Congress' authorizing the funds isn't synonymous with countries deserving the funds. Foreign policy is the realm of the Executive Branch. It's his job is to use discretion. So where pray tell is the crime. Well of course, it's because Trump is the one who's doing it this time around and "we" don't like Trump!
Conclusion- the Abuse of Power claim is debunked based on lack of a quid pro quo and established precedent.
Article 2: Obstruction of Justice-
1. You can only have Obstruction of Justice if there's an underlying crime for without it, there's nothing to obstruct! In this case there's no underlying crime because Abuse of Power is not proven.
Conclusion- this is an attempt at a power grab by the HOR. An attempt to diminish the power of the Executive Branch and impose a parliamentary system of government in favor of one party. So when Democrats claim they're "defending the Constitution" ask them where in the Constitution does it advocate a parliamentary system.
I thank you and rest my case.
