Vern Lundquist

Prob top 10 all time. Wonder when Michaels will be forced out. They have Tirico doing more SNF

Don't think that them pushing Michaels out at all. They are Tirico doing some Sunday night now because Collinsworth/Michaels team is doing both Thursday and Sunday nights, so they aren't making him do both.

Agree. Old Verne was last of the "old school" for college football. Will be missed. The new generation of play-by-play guys are simply a bunch of clone talking hair-dos. They have the trumped up wind pipes, and they are all the same. The guys like Vin Scully, Keith Jackson, Dick Enberg, Pat Summeral and Verne Lundquist had personality.

I agree with you Kiber; or is it because we are are turning into old guys and these great announcers were part of our time?

Can't believe he won't be at the Master's...."In your life have you ever seen anything like that." My all time favorite ....thanks Vern.
He did say that he was still going to be in the 16th tower at the Masters. He retired from doing college football games. "YES SIR!"

Other than his sickening Dallas Cowboys bias, he's a fine play by play guy. I recall him doing important Eagles-Cowboys games and he could hardly contain his enthusiasm when the Cowboys did well in the course of the game.

Vern goes all the way back to Cowboys/Steelers Super Bowl and his call on Jackie Smith's drop in the end zone..."He has to be the sickest man in America"

My other favorite was Tiger's roll in chip shot at the Masters..."In your Life!"

Congrats on a fabulous career!

I liked Keith Jackson better. The way he'd say /over empathize players names like, Cuncho Brown and Joe Nastasi...as enjoyed listening to him.

Interesting fact I did not know about him(assuming wikipedia page is correct)... he lives in Steamboat Springs. Doesn't quite have the body of a serious outdoor type. Must enjoy that scenery and ski town feel. Just assumed he lived in the southeast somewhere. He looked more the country club and golf type.
