Isn't this the same course where the played the Open about ten years ago and they let the greens dry out so thoroughly that they burned, and the USGA then decided to water them in the middle of a weekend round? Loved the course, but what a clusterphuck THAT was.

I went to the ‘86 Open at Shinnecock and it’s really something. Even then, there were long carries to the fairways that I could never reach in my wildest dreams.

The US Open is my favorite golf event and we’re planning on attending next year at Pebble, which will be celebrating its centennial, IIRC.
