If it's able to be done without conflict... if you can give a brief synopsis of his comments if you have FLO PRO. It's been out for a few days and it would be nice to get Gable's take. The quote, it was "Life or Death" is so Gablesque. Who wouldn't want to know what the Greatest of All Time said about Bo's famous fall? I certainly would.

It would also be interesting to hear what Wade Schalles thought about it. (other than "deja vu all over again")
I got the privilege to eat lunch with Wade every day at the 2011 NCAA's in Philadelphia. He is a very cerebral guy and I know he would have been highly impressed by Bo's turn of misfortune into a... moment never to forgotten in college wrestling lore. Wade had a tendency for the spectacular pin. Bo most likely got a big Wade Schalles grin in that moment.

Side note: Wade and I went back and forth on who was going to win the team title at NCAA's in 2011. He toyed with me the 3 days we were together. Before the finals, he flipped his lap top around and showed me he predicted Penn State to win the title before the tournament began and he was only off 1/2 a point from what he predicted Penn State's point total was going to be and what they ultimately scored. Wade is a LEGEND for so many reasons.

Synopsis of Gable's take: Said Bo's amazing but a win is not automatic. Bo agreed you've got to make it happen. Said with the team score being so close (OSU ahead of PSU at the time), Myles did not want to go over but Bo would have broken his neck, so he made a good decision to go over and Gable was glad he went over. Said it was so tight and Myles was ready to win (Bo said yeah, he could feel it). Said Bo threw a good move... it was unbelievable...life or death. Said Bo learned to wrestle a lot better (at the upper level/over the years), instead of just throwing people on their backs. Said "You DO look like you have a lot of f*n out there!" Bo: definitely. I like to get this kind of stuff [interviews] over with so i can go and practice. Gable: Wow. I like that!

The "thing" readers get out of hearing an interview can lead them to focus on that one thing and forget everything else in the piece. For me, I'm hearing the Hawk Fans GOD saying Cael can coach and Bo has gotten alot better through the years....

I believe Penn State was leading the team race before the Bo/Myles match. Had Martin won Snyder still would have had to win in order for
tosu to win the team title.

It was 136.5 to 130.5 before the Bo match. MyMar and Snyder winning would have won it for OSU. It was pretty understood that 184 was more or less for the title, OSU had to feel confident about Snyder beating Coon to win it all (even if he was 1-1 with two razor thin matches). I mean he was Superman after all.

I remember the experts here determined there were two paths to victory that morning.

Zain, Nolf, Cenzo, Mark all win (would have been 140.5 to 130.5 before the match and basically seal it, one or them would have had to pin their opponents to give them a chance even)

Two of Zain/Nolf/Cenzo/Mark win + Bo wins

Bo more or less was the key since he was the only one facing an Ohio State wrestler.

Cenzo and Mark were underdogs and Nolf was still somewhat hobbled. Still I felt confident, we'd win a win between one of the tree (Nolf ended up beating Hidlay comfortably) and Bo would take it home. Was nerve wracking throughout the day but I kept telling myself Bo would live for that situation.

And live for it he did ....

We were up by 6. Bo loses and we lose with a Snyder decision.

Bo pin minus the headgear infraction put us up by 11

I loved the headgear spike by Bo, he knew it didn't matter anymore by that point. Snyder also knew it didn't matter and threw his own headgear into the crowd. I remember Coon was really mad because he went to shake his hand and Snyder was taking it in and he just waved him off and tried to walk off without shaking his hand before the ref called him back. Funny thing, Michigan tied with NC State for 4th, the no handshake would have lost them 4th!!!

Man what a conclusion to the most epic team race ever.

You just beat me to the punch. Zain not getting bonus was a huge surprise and made the score tighter than if he had done his normal thing.

Thank god Bo won. Annoying Mr. Martin and assorted douches would have dunked on us (and Bo) for years.

It's funny, Zain explained his weird spell his last 2 matches of his career after Final X 2019. A lot of people thought he might have gotten some undisclosed injury. He only decisioned 2 people he should have teched probably. Hell, if Perry finished his takedown, we sweat in the 3rd period!

Zain basically said he basically started paying attention to the team score near the end of the 2018 team race (when he really tries hard not to) People can joke about the "have fun" mantra all they want but if that isn't proof how much it matters, then I don't know what is. You wrestle tight when you start to worry. DT said during all 4 team titles he was a part of, the score was brought up by the coaches 0 times.

It's a shame that Bo wasn't a 4 time NCAA champion. What enabled him to win the match that Gable discussed was his willingness to take risks and try the big move. Oddly enough that mindset was probably what cost him his Freshman year.
