Joe Paterno's job status was questioned. Before the game he was quoted as saying if he didn't come up with some wins... he needed to get his butt out of here (Penn State). Penn State with a disaster of a 1st quarter... then slowly comes back. With Michael Robinson at the helm... and with two freshman receivers... he kept plugging away at Northwestern lead. They came back to be only down by 9 at halftime with a late quarter TD to Deon Butler.

Two plays that will forever stick out in Penn State football history... the last drive against NW. Michael Robinson hit Isaac Smolko on 4 and BALL GAME (15 yds) and then the pass to Derrick Williams under heavy duress, where D-Will ducks, sheds the talker and goes in for the go ahead score.

Michael Robinson was absolute money on the last drive throwing every type of pass a quarterback needs to make. Outs, seam... long out... fade. Michael was money... he had a will that far surpassed anyone that I've ever seen in a blue and white jersey. If it was the game on the line... M-Rob wasn't going to put the game on his shoulders. Got absolutely beat senseless in the Orange Bowl against Florida State, but just kept making plays. His will was unbreakable. Joe loved him and needed him... and Michael as we all know... LOVED JOE.

What a pairing...when each needed the other so much. The resurrection of Joe couldn't have happened without Michael Robinson and cast of great players around him. Derrick Williams, Jordan Norword, Deon Butler, Tony Hunt.... and please add any others you would like to add. Love these years... 2005-2008.
