VIDEO: Nico walking through the MSG Tunnel after his National Championship win... WOW!!!

Damn amalone, thanks for posting this! I've watched Nico wrestle since long before PSU. Love to see him go out that way!
I was scoring some of his matches at Nationals in 2011 and was wowed mat side by his run to the finals beating Zach Sanders of Minnesota and Frank Perelli of Cornell. It was a run for the ages. I'll never for it. As we won't forget his finals match against Thomas Gilman. Wrestled his best matches his freshman year... and his last. In between was pure... JOY.

Completely share your feelings and sentiments.. Johnstownsteel. To see him celebrate with his family... was surreal.

It strikes me how Nico looks for certain things to push him, to make him a better man. He just finished winning the NCAA championship and immediately he's setting his next goal. That's the mentality winners have. Instead of just being satisfied, which he most certainly was, instead of taking in all that he just accomplished, he's walking through the tunnel and says he's gonna be Olympic Trials Champ. He already had in his mind what was going on the steering wheel next. People want to ask why PSU is so successful now. Yeah, they get some of the best talent out there but it's that "Nico Attitude" that squad has going on in the room that makes them champions. And it was awesome getting just a glimpse of it!!

"The Psychology of it All", right haters?

That young man right there is a MASTER of psychology, and he is NATIONAL CHAMPION.

END OF STORY, well not yet, olympic trials coming up...what can Nico do for an encore? I know one thing: He has got what it takes.

Literally couldn't agree more or said it better. Jason Nolf has the same mentality, Bo Nickal... Zain Retherford... the younger guys are just so hungry for the challenges that lie ahead. It's infectious.

You are right, I remember watching that run at nationals, his freshman year and I never before had seen a run like that, still hard to believe that came out of a true freshman. Love that he got it done, as his last PSU match.

There is a clip that Askren did, that goes step by step the opening takedown for Nico against Gilman, I don't have the link but somebody does.

The whole thing, Gilman in, Nico reaches around for the ankle(which Askren calls "very brave"), Nico gets the ankle, Nico tries to bump Gilman down, Gilman stays up, Nico then hips in and picks Gilman up, Nico drives Gilman down, Nico switches his arm under Gilmans, Nico somehow throws himself around Gilman, Nico gets a half in, Gilman avoids his back, Nico drives in and gets the takedown.

Man, it was one hell of a sequence. Now, what we really need to find, is the clip of Ironhead calling the match, start to finish...

Thing of beauty

Like most of you I've watched Nico since he was in high school. Being from PA you can't miss a talent like him if you follow wrestling. He's been one of my favorite wrestlers while he's been at PSU. I grew up a stone's throw from Murrysville myself and I spent a lot of time wrestling kids from FR growing up, so he's always been a little reminder of my wrestling days when I'd watch him. His attitude and personality are just infectious. He's a great kid and I think I wanted him to win a championship more than anybody else this year. A REALLY close second would have been Morgan, though who is another amazing person.

Thanks amalone. Like all here, I love Nico's win. Totally deserving! Unfortunately I can't get the damn video to play. Went to Bader's facebook link. Won't play there for me either.

On a brighter note, Bader's link has lots of other great pics and vids from NYC and some from FLONats.
Glad I went there anyway.
Cold Smoke... send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll try sending them there for you to see if the links will work. Maybe.. maybe not.. but it's worth a try. You'd enjoy these videos also.
