Franklin takes a moment to recognize commission Tony Petitti - says he could not be more excited about what Petitti has brought to the conference.
Franklin says that opening the season against West Virginia has the Nittany Lions "motivated" and he believes they have less question marks than they had at this point last season. Belives that the program's depth is at a better spot as well.
"On the defensive side of the ball, I think we have a chance to better up front." Follows it up by saying he belives they can be three-deep along the defensive line.

Funny enough, he marks secondary as a question mark due to the losses of Porter Jr and Brown but also notes they have a lot of experience.
Says offensively their depth and talent is "right where we need it to be". Nittany Lions are still looking to find their No. 3 wide receiver. Notes that the QB competition is still ongoing but understands the excitement regarding Drew Allar.
"Through Pat's leadership we are continuing to close that gap and make progress." - Franklin on Penn State's NIL being behind. Says there is still work to be done but excited about the two collectives merging.
When it comes to Penn State being the only Big Ten team without a protected rival -- the "benefits will outweigh" any negatives that may come from them not having a protected rival in the new scheduling format for 2024 and beyond.
Franklin notes the big challenge with the Michigan State game on Black Friday is it being a Friday game late in the season. Bumps and bruises adding up, etc. But calls it an even playing field and thinks it will be a great environment.
Franklin was asked about Ohio State and Michigan's last few seasons compared to Penn State -- says they pay attention to those two teams and study them to see what they can take from them but at the end of the day the focus is on Penn State.

1. Theo was already punished in house off season. There will most likely be no playing time lost(and there damn well shouldn't considering the 2 teams we need to beat don't suspend their starters either).
