..and just once since 1900
I find this especially interesting since I work there half of the year. Vigo county has voted for Obama the last 2 elections mainly as it is a slightly left leaning county that is home to Indiana State University (Larry Bird).
I remember a few months ago during the Republican primary while I was there Trump went to Vigo county, literally across the street from my hotel and it was a complete madhouse of people. Trump ended up winning Indiana easily by almost 17% over Cruz and also taking Vigo County with 64% of the vote vs 29% for Cruz and 6% for Kasich.
On the other hand Sanders beat Hillary in Indiana by 5% and he took Vigo County by 10% or 55% vs 45%.
Anyways it will be interesting to me at least what happens there tonight. It's of note also the early voting is way up in Vigo county by a crazy 338% since 2012 and 31% since 2008 although this is mostly because of a change in the way early voting has been done since 2014.
Also part of this may because of a very tight Senate race between Evan Bayh and Todd Young. I can tell you fist hand Bayh WAY out spent Young on TV ads...they were almost nonstop and he led easily most of the race until recently where Young has surged ahead.
Another thing I will tell you is there are a decent amount of coal jobs in and around Indiana. I know this because many of my customers are coal miners which I found fascinating when I first started there.
