This weekend myself and Seven of my buddies went out to the big house. Yes we got destroyed on the field. Beyond that we could not of had a better time.

Seven of us had on white bids with the Penn State logo on them (we’ve official named ourselves “The Penn State Painters” - “We only paint in two colors”).

We certainly stood out in the crowd. From the time we arrived on Friday afternoon until we left on Sunday morning we could not have been treated better. I’ll bet we had our pictures taken 50 times. Their fan base embrassed us with open arms! Beer, food, high fives, comments like “Welcome to Ann Arbor” - “Enjoy the game” - and “Good Luck” were all we heard! Honestly not one negative comment all weekend!

Even after the game I thought we might hear it but not one negative comment! Truly a great experience.

I honestly have a different perspective of Michigan after this weekend. If you get a chance, visit the big house. Great times!!!

My wife and I and two other couples just got back from Ann Arbor. I must agree. The hospitality was generally outstanding and quite welcoming. Near the stadium we got a smattering of boos from a couple of tailgates that I found generally good natured. Near the stadium entrance gate I had a drunken coed stagger toward me and gave me a big double thumbs up and she said “Boiler up, because you’re just like Purdue”.

Have to say that has been my experience on all three of my visits.

Suspect that the game’s result had at least a little to do with your post-game treatment.

But I’ve had fewer (and seen fewer) bad experiences in a dozen games in Ann Arbor (going there beginning before PSU joined this ugly conference) than I had in my one visit to Columbus.

Ohio state “fans” include many pro type fans. Many didn’t go to college or didn’t go there. The rural Ohio rank and file can be pretty red neck to say the least.

Well I would say our weekend was treated pretty well too. although after the game was significantly worse got some ped state chants. stopped in the bathroom and a group of 5 had one talker, the rest rolled their eyes at him but the guy was unrelenting. Easy way to shut them up is ask if they were on the field laying it on the line for their school.

As terrible as many of Michigan's fans are online (Anison aside, he's a solid guy), I've been treated very well in Ann Arbor, and the golf course is great place to tailgate. I'd put them in the top 3 in the conference with Nebraska and PSU. Strictly talking fans here, because the Big House is a dump.

Indy, Illinois, Maryland, Purdue, MSU, Minny, and NW were the noise in the middle. Fans were generally pretty subdued and their stadiums didn't really standout.

I really enjoyed my trip to Wisconsin. It was a cool stadium and town, but their fans were kinda annoying.

Rutgers was pretty bad. Their fans were all talk (before the game), and the stadium atmosphere was atrocious. It was like a web page with too much clip art.

Ohio State and Iowa were the absolute worst. Ohio State's fans weren't quite as bad as Iowa's, and they've got a beautiful stadium. Iowa is the worst road trip in the Big 10.

I’ve been to Ann Arbir once and had a blast with only positive fan interaction. I would love to go again.

Higher caliber school and fan base at Michigan. And, you are right about the in your face NFL type fans at OSU. That said, I hope this is not what we're becoming at Penn State. After 40+ years I gave up my season tickets in 2012, so I don't have any first hand experience of late, but it seems as though we aren't as friendly as we once were. Could be wrong.

And this is one where YMMV. Mrs KG and I had a great time at Iowa last year (except for the heat). One negative comment from a teenager. That was it.

The only issues I've had at AA were the seats being way too small (that and getting refereenied). When you are in a row where 3-5 people are spilling out into the aisle, you have a problem.

Fans are usually okay in RL. Every school has drunken frat boys who will yell crap, but that is usually frowned upon.

It is here on the INTERNET with the safety of distance that people get mouthy. Like yelling obscenities at another driver while in your car with the windows safely rolled up.

The Browns & Bengals have been so bad to mediocre for so long that the OSU bandwagon gets over filled. NFL style fans are generally poor hosts.

Crossed off a bucket list item by going to the Big House. It was a great experience......right up until kickoff.

I went to the Penn State Alumni association pep rally at the local bowling alley. We tailgated with a group of Penn State fans. It was a great time. There were plenty of Michigan fans all around us and not one ill word or negative experience. Some good natured back and forth but everyone was friendly and fun.

Once in the stadium I was treated quite well. The ushers were extremely accommodating. Everyone i sat around was friendly. Even as we got blasted they didn't trash talk or use the opportunity to rub it in.

On a side note....the alumni association pep rally was a great experience. The bowling alley was a great location. They had some from the blue band, cheerleaders, the lion and even President Barron there. I'm glad I went

But I've now been to 2 away games in the last few years......The Rose Bowl and the Big House.....both losses. It may be a while before I got to an away game.
