no he didn'tWho nominates these guys? The reason I ask is it seems like athletes get nominated that have no reason to be nominated. Love Nick Lee to death but I'm not voting for him.
The year Spencer won it, the award lost its shine The kid had losses on the season.
For some reason, I tried to figure out which of you two is correct. I spent about 10 minutes researching something I don't really care about. So...thanks...no he didn't

The AAU website listed the year as 2019 at a few locations. It does make it a bit confusing because it lists achievements that occurred in 2020 as well for both winners. But, it clearly lists Spencer's record as 23-3.

Not sure if this is worth posting again. Kind of regretting posting to begin with.It was awarded following the 2020 season. He was undefeated during that season.
It listed career achievements for both, hence the mentions of 2019. Any way you slice it, to say he had "losses on the season" is disingenuous because you'd have to refer to the year before and not the season that actually ended a month before he won.
Nobody would seriously argue this. The guy just misremembered. Nobody here thinks Bo Nickal won the 2019 hodge for his 2018 season.
The first three things his blurb notes are all from the 2019-2020 season: 2019 US Open, #1 seed for the 2020 championships, and the 2020 Hodge. Then it starts talking about career stuff. Not sure if this is worth posting again. Kind of regretting posting to begin with.
The confusion here may be whether or not the Sullivan award is based on a single year's athletic achievements or career-based. It's clearly not season-based which makes the Hodge incomparable. But again, all I was pointing out was that AAU itself is saying that he had losses on the season in the award article I posted. Since AAU states that Spencer won the award for the year 2019, I don't think it's "disingenuous" of them to include his loses in 2019.
p.s. I promise my next post will be more constructive.
The notion that any award is lessened because Spencer Lee won it is just idiotic. The first three things his blurb notes are all from the 2019-2020 season: 2019 US Open, #1 seed for the 2020 championships, and the 2020 Hodge. Then it starts talking about career stuff.
Bottom line is the guy forgot which year he won it. By the same logic, why should DT win the award this year? He "had losses on the season" (Bubba, Dake, Burroughs, etc...). See how ridiculous that sounds?
The Best Original Slogan Award would suffer if Spencer wins it.The notion that any award is lessened because Spencer Lee won it is just idiotic.
OK, that I agree with. Good point. The Best Original Slogan Award would suffer if Spencer wins it.
