So the poster suggesting the team might flip the two tackles may be correct. Looks like I was wrong!
I think it's nuts but we'll see. So instead of having one weak tackle you have two. And the d can simply flip their DEs to counter. The only thing I can think of is the injury may be less problematic on the leftI don’t know if it will help (or even if it’s part of the longer term plan), but I can absolutely understand why they would feel that just about anything was worth a try.
For whatever reason(s), Fries has become a sieve at RT over the last month or so.
Fries seemed to play pretty well at LT the end of last season and Bates isn’t a T at all just one of the better OL filling a need. I like the move and actually thought Fries would stick at LT and Bates at RT after a dominant performance by our Oline in the Fiesta Bowl. Sometimes players feel more comfortable on a certain side.To paraphrase the flight director from “Apollo 13”...... “Fries at RT is not an option”, he has just not gotten it done there. Maybe they jump from “Friesing Pan” into the fire, but I imagine they felt they had to try something different (that definition of insanity and what not)
What are you talking about? Bates has been the best OL no matter where he’s lined up, including guard.I think it's nuts but we'll see. So instead of having one weak tackle you have two. And the d can simply flip their DEs to counter. The only thing I can think of is the injury may be less problematic on the left
Not too long ago fans were complaining that the staff should have burned Fries' redshirt. The disturbing thing about this move is what it suggests about the status of the guys in waiting. We'll see.
Mcgovern played better a center, should have stayed at center- let Menet play guard.
Why would you wonder that?
