Not to say other schools didn't do it, but in the Paterno era, it was fairly common to see a Penn State player help an opponent up or pat an opponent on the back after a play. I have to believe that was a part of Joe's philosophy coming through. Show your opponent respect. Whip him into oblivion every down, but show him respect.
