Honestly.... ya' gotta' laugh - at least a little.

Sandy's Dream Team just gets more and more impressive

Three years into the Mao Zedong Barbour's "5 Year Master Plan".... with nary a shovel of dirt being moved on any of the Five Year Master Plan projects:
- The Empress's $80,000,000 Swimming Hole and Bidet Garden
- The $60,000,000 Indoor Practice Field..... to replace the one they just spent $60,000,000 "renovating" :)
- The $45,000,000 Tennis Center

and, of course, the coup de grace:

- The "We'll Put This Department into Debt that will last into the Next Century (at least)" …… her $250,000,000 Center for Excellence :)

Gee, what a shocker that her end product is a pile of donkey shit on a paper plate......
what with Pansuit Idiot leading the way, and delegating "Capital Projects" to clerks, so as to not interrupt her vital activities :)

Do you want to be ohio state or pitt?

Two things no one should be complaining spending money on, tennis and swimming facilities. They are beyond abysmal and 30 years overdue. Either build them or shut them down.

Personally I’m thrilled that these positions were finally filled. Every other important aspect of the department has an asst AD dedicated to the non progress of their particular area. Finally these two no longer have to feel like leaderless orphans when viewing the organization chart. Two steps forward, one step back, shuffle to the side, spin your partner and stomp, stomp stomp.

If you "need" a car...… and you are going to buy a Toyota Camry (or, whatever), do you care at all if the dealership charges you $20,000 for the car - or if they charge you $100,000 for the same car?

Does that mean anything at all?
Does that influence - in any way - your evaluation of that transaction?
At all?
Do you just say "I need the car".... and sign the check for whatever amount they ask for?
No???

(BTW:
Is the Sarni Tennis Center even 20 years old? How did it get "30 Years Overdue" in that time? :) )
Well, between that and the McCoy built in 67, it's a good average.

Of course our student athletes are breaking records academically. I think Sandy was crucified on this board even before she got here for an expected issue on this. But our numbers of academic all Americans and graduation rates are stellar. And our teams are performing very well on the field. Football, soccer, ice hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, wrestling, men’s and women’s basketball have all benefited from good coaching hires or extensions. The Whiteout has grown to produce a reputation for not only the best atmosphere of any college football game, but maybe the best in all of sports. This all happens by accident without any management by our athletic Department and Sandy should get no credit for any of this. I’m glad all the experts on this board are experts in public financing of capital projects so Sandy can do her job just by reading these posts.

I'm disappointed that the Center for Excellence is projected to be so small - only 450,000 square feet. Meh. I like the price tag though. Go big or go home! Gotta pay to play! Gotta spent money to make money!

Shut them down. Put the $$$ somewhere else.

How narrow minded are cruel can a person be? There are at least one or two asst AD’s with a substantial support staff over seeing the slow painful demise of those facilities. And you selfishly want to terminate their employment just because you weren’t a member of an exclusive country club as a youth.

Yep, I’m a dirtynecker from So Philly. Shut them down.

And take 7 or 8 more with them.

No onion dip reference?

;)

So all this angst over a promotion and a backfill hire for someone that left?

Of course. Penn State spent money, so obviously BARRY. is OUTRAGED. .

BARRY. ’s got this all figured out. Obviously Penn State won’t put him in charge to fix things since mediocrity breeds mediocrity. It therefore is a wonder why he’s piddling around in Happy Valley. Certainly places like Harvard or Stanford have a place for him.
