PSAAforAll is running a survey for the month of July asking the question: What should the Penn State Alumni Council agenda be for 2015-2016? https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GKM2SQG

Anyone may take the survey, it's three questions and shouldn't take more than a minute. The agenda items proposed were taken from AC representative Sue Wilson's post here on BWI asking for ideas, but there is space to list your own ideas as well.

The survey will be up until the end of the month, then the responses will be published and shared with all members of Alumni Council. Tom McAndrew has also pinned the survey link post at the top of the Blue White Illustrated home page. htttp://bwi.forums.rivals.com/forums/bwi-mcandrew-board.20/

Thank you, and have a safe and happy Arts Festival weekend.

Thanks Mary, Sue, and all who give of their time and talent to work for a better Penn State. I know it must be very frustrating dealing with the old guard and still maintaining your composure. As long as you keep the faith, so will I.

We are going to give them a run for the money or die trying! Thank you, thank each and EVERY alum who continues to remain engaged, despite all odds. - Sue Wilson

Mary: You have worked tirelessly to help us reach out to fellow alumni who want to FIGHT ON to make a difference. The survey link here will take folks to a far more reasoned survey than the one I posted here, and will help to give we Alumni Council members a louder voice, if enough folks will simply take a minute to do the survey. Thank you Mary for your help.

I majored in QBA (Quantitative Business Analysis, sadly no longer a major) because I like to count things, and surveys are a good way to do that. I'm proud to be working with such great people who want to put the alumni back in charge of their organization.

Restoration of the JoePa statue.
409Fold, one of the agenda items is "Propose a plan for alumni to recognize the Grand Experiment, honoring the tremendous accomplishments of all the people, across decades, who helped embody ‘Success With Honor’." This would be the alumni doing the recognition, and not waiting for the administration to decide when the appropriate time has come. It's a bigger picture that the statue could be part of.

Hmmmmm.
Mary do you know that there is someone who occasionally posts here that says the exact same thing? Goes by the handle "The Count".
Maybe you know this poster?
Yes, the Count is legendary on this Board. We haven't heard from him in a while. Where are you Count?

I believe it was michnitlion who claimed to be the Count on the Rutgers board.
That's a bizarre place to reveal your identity, but if it is him, or someone else, I always enjoy the Count's posts.

Please take a minute to complete the survey or leave your comments here. We WILL take them to the next alumni Council meeting. They tout their survey which actually has very few respondents given the number of members. I you give us a large response, we will make the noise. We will be your voices.

Thanks for all you do Deb. You ladies are a force to be reckoned with.

Knowing you are all behind us is so important. It give us the momentum that we need to keep up the fight. With all of the new people that you all elected to help me, we are going to be a force this year.

Greetings!!!! The Count is here.

The most interesting part of this thread is the survey that Mary posted! I should apply for a job at SurveyMonkey and then I would be able to COUNT the survey results! Although one does wonder how we can guarantee this survey will get a statistically representative sample of Penn State alums?

Anyway, before I go applying for that job, let's count something else! How about days until the Temple game!

I do "own" The Count's moniker. I've revealed that here a few times before too.

As for The Count, I should e-mail someone I know who recently took a job at SurveyMonkey. Maybe I can help The Count get that job. That's a legitimate question he asks about statistical representation. The Count is a smart one........ :)

I also need to restore The Count's signature. Damn board change .....

Count, you made my night! It's always good to hear from one of this Board's most erudite members. All the best!

Thanks .... I think only a few people remember this, but The Count --- who first appeared in early 2007 --- was initially evil. There was some thread (probably started by Bushwood :) ) about "let's count the number of ways the refs have screwed Penn State against Michigan", so The Count decided to respond with a thread of "let's count the number of times in a row Michigan has defeated Penn State."

That admittedly wasn't very cool, so The Count did a quick 180.

The Count's at only 87 posts total --- in 8 1/2 years of posting --- so he's pretty restrained with his appearances.

And that really works. I don't know anyone who doesn't like the Count and with his limited appearances it leaves everyone wanting more.

Hello, Count! Excellent question about the sample size of Penn State alumns we can hope to identify in our survey.

The long answer is: Participants are asked in question 3 to self-identify their role: alumnus and PSAA member, alumnus and not a PSAA member, PSAA member but not an alumnus, or valued friend of Penn State (neither member nor alumnus). Without access to the PSAA and PSU databases to scrub for validation we will take people at their word.

The short answer is: we don't care, because as the above roles show anyone with a credit card can now be a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

And I think SurveyMonkey is interviewing for CEO's unfortunately. Dave Goldberg was a good guy.

I don't wonder about "sample size" as much as about "equal representation of each sub-group of PSU alums" ---- I think this survey is going to over-sample that sub-group of PSU alums who care about football (and likely under-sample the sub-group who isn't as football focused).

SurveyMonkey did hire a new CEO earlier this week --- an HP guy.

Mary, I am very disappointed. Standing up for the alumni is not the Penn State Way. Please put your hands in the air and move on.

BobPSU92 you make me smile - I like the sarcasm -then frown a little in its truth. Mary and all thank you.

Not sure if this is appropriate - but following other ideas above here - sample size and representation of the larger group - this is a first of a kind effort - very grass roots - survey - so it may be biased by the channels used to reach participants. Not sure if the PSAAforALL newsletter list is biased toward football - or more toward alumni that want to make tuition more affordable and governance more transparent. Time will tell. I hope we (Mary & PSAAforALL) continue asking for ideas, and each time we can all share the asks with broader and broader audiences. I for one am biased toward influencing the alumni association to best serve its members - and to do that I need help to hear from them.

The survey ends tomorrow night, July 31st, and we would like to hear from everyone (since everyone can be a member of the Penn State Alumni Association). It's 3 questions and should take less than 1 minute to complete: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GKM2SQG

Thanks to all who have taken the survey, and all who will take it in the next two days. Results will be posted here and on our website, psaaforall.org, on Saturday, August 1st.
