Weight gain on the PSU D-ilne

It appears there is a very deep rotation building along the DL. DT is still kinda green, with only Givens, Windsor, Shelton and Jordan having seen actual game reps. DE depth is just insane, It looks like fatigue shouldn’t be a significant concern at that spot. Expect DE’s to be able to go all out every down and put a lot of edge pressure on the OL. I expect more sacks this season.

I also see significance in Buchholz - down from 264 to 258. Maybe he'll play exclusively at DE in the fall?

Windsor - gained 23 lbs! Geez.

I have to believe Gault really worked on Windsor during the off season, having him drop down to around 283, and now at 304. Must have taken off bad weight and replaced it with more muscle. I was concerned about that 283 weight, but have faith in Mr. Gault. A lot of predictions for breakout years in 2018, but I will go with Simmons.

He dropped down to 283 from what?

A lot of big guys - who have trouble keeping their weight up during the season- fatten up this time of year (just prior to the season) so that they start at a little higher point come September.

I would be unsurprised if Windsor is the breed of cat who follows that pattern.

I believe it was April when he weighed 283. Anyway, glad he is back up over 300. Same with Givens even though he only went from 275 to 283. A good playing weight for him.

That would pretty much make sense - for a guy like him.
I'd bet he really had trouble staying at or near 300 throughout the season.
IMO.

I'd also figure 280 is plenty for Givens. That kid is just WAAAAY too quick - and plays with such good leverage - for most interior offensive linemen to handle.
So long as they can rotate generously with 4 or 5 guys, I expect he will be fine.

Agree. Just take a look at the Buckeyes who never carry a lot of weight on the DL, but cause a lot of havoc......

One of the biggest things about fatigue this year, will be location: Last year Ohio State wore us down because they could run that speed offense. That won't happen in Beaver Stadium because it's impossible. Crowd noise necessitates silent counts, and silent counts mean longer seconds between snaps. It's enormous. The only road game where it comes into effect is Indiana. Michigan up to now doesn't run that offense.

Mitch King played at 280. Givens reminds me of King and he'll play at 283. This works. Windsor now at 305 also works. Those two are playing with the ones. The only question is, who plays on the other side of Shariff Miller: Bucholz or Brown. Yes, they will both play but which one will go with the ones.

Isn't Gross-Matos in that discussion, too?
Listed at 6'5" 262# coming into his 2nd year

and we know there will be a frequent rotation during games at that position
