Well Tom, can you flip her to PSU re: women's lax POY??

theres still time!! Personally I think she would look better in Orange and Blue, than Duke blue, plus she might win an NCAA championship!!

I'd be interested in Ned's take on this, but for all the time the article you linked spends on Jenner's dominance on draws, the numbers weren't all that amazing. I have seen girls, especially in high school, that can pretty much control a game from their dominance at draw controls, as they win >80% of the draws. Size helps, but it's not everything in draw controls.

Her older sister goes to Duke, so this isn't a huge surprise. Plus, if you look at it from the academic side, Duke really is a great university.

I'd also note that Jenner didn't make the roster of the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game. That's not the final word in talent evaluation, but usually the top players make the roster.

I could probably look it up, and Ned may know the info, but Jenner has probably been verballed to Duke for 3 or more years.

FWIW, the best girl's high school LAX player in SE PA this past year is headed to Syracuse. She's a great kid ... can pretty much score at will regardless of what defense the opponents throw at her (and they threw pretty much everything at her this year). I did mention to her in a joking manner that she should have gone to PSU. She laughed, and I didn't go any further with the conversation.

I am no expert, but relative to the draws (and I think the article is worded poorly) I saw, 'Of the draws that Jenner took at center, Eagles coach Chris Robinson estimates that she probably won closer to 80 percent'

and I am not sure if this is the same thing or not but, 'Jenner, who has won 357 draws for the Eagles in two years, will play for Baltimore in the Under Armour Underclass Lacrosse Tournament against teams from around the country June 29-July 2 at Towson University'
I have no dog in this fight, just saw this and thought I would share.

that's not the same thing. The Under Armour LAX tourney is for non-seniors. Tryouts are held in the LAX hotbeds, and those select teams compete in the tournament.

The All-America Game takes place during the tournament, but it's basically a North and South team composed of the top HS seniors (those that graduated this year). It's equivalent to what McDonald's has done for years with basketball.

it is poorly worded. and the coach didn't help with providing an estimate. He should be able to quickly figure that stat out, as his team would have kept a book for each game.

I think a more accurate analysis is what's written later in the article:

"In three playoff games, however, when she took almost all of them, she won 33 of 67 total draws. In the A Conference quarterfinal 18-3 win over No. 13 St. Paul's, she won the first five and McDonogh led 5-0 in less than three minutes."

Draw controls in playoff games is a more accurate analysis, in that it's against other highly ranked teams. Winning 50% of the draws in playoffs, especially in MD, is very good. IMHO, it's a step below elite, but it's certainly very, very good.
