would he do that? Feeling guilty???? LA, NY, Portland, Seattle and Minneapolis where most of the violence has occurred are all Democrat run cities. The protesters are blaming the police. Their anger is somewhat misplaced. Leadership in those cities sets the rules for police behavior. They control the budgets. Over time the police forces in this country have leaned to having become militarized buying surplus military equipment for use. They look like storm troopers. Why did Garcetti and other mayors allow this to happen? Did they not think that outfitting police like that would have a negative affect? I am all for police protecting themselves and don't begrudge them bullet proof vests and other accoutrements for their safety. What the mayors should have been doing instead of buying armored vehicles for example is better vetting candidates for hiring, training them better and paying them better.
Garcetti and his like have created this situation where much of the citizenry hates the police.
Another thing. I have watched video after video of police interacting with the public in making a traffic stop. People are being stopped for failing to signal when turning, failing to signal changing lanes, inadvertently letting the car drift onto the dividing line just one time, crossing a double yellow to access a store or gas station and more petty bullshit. Sure it's all illegal but the image police give is that they are more interested in writing tickets than being peace officers. It is pols like Garcetti that drive this bullshit. And what does Garcetti do when confronted, get on his knees pleading for his political life. Total piece of shit. But what makes him a bigger piece of shit is that he throws the police under the bus. IT"S GARCETTI'S fault. Too many of the protesters are too stupid to realize that he is the problem. I'm not denying that there are thug ass police with a chip on their shoulders who abuse and bully the public.
