What’s the deal with the Giants not running the ball with Barkley in the second half of games?

i only caught the tail end of the Giants game today, but believe that I heard that SB had over 100 yards rushing in the first half, but not much in the second half. This happened last week as well. Is this a case of the defenses forcing the giants to pass by loading th3 box or another scheme? If not, what could be the logic? Are the giants trying to tank and get a better draft pick?

Shurmur’s in over his head. The Giants are not good, but his coaching hasn’t done them any favors.

The announcer was talking about the Bears running the ball in the first half and not much in the second half. Barkley did not have a good 29:43 in the first half. He had only 21 yards then broke off a great run with 17 seconds left to have 40+ yards at half. They got a FG as a result. Saquon got his yards in the second half. This was not a repeat of last week when the coaches comments after the game came off as semi tanking.

Barkley didn’t rush for over 100 yards in the first half against the Bears, he had around 50 yards or so. He had roughly 90 yards rushing at the end of the 4th quarter, then gained about another 35 yards or so during the OT.

A majority of his carries today were runs straight up the gut not allowing him to get anything going besides the usual 3-5 yards. When they got him out in space/on the edge he was much more productive.

There was this too:

The announcer was talking about the Bears running the all in the first half and not much in the second half. Barkley did not have a good 59:43 in the first half. He was pretty much invisible for 29:43 in the first half. The dumb dumb Bears took a timeout with :17 left or the half would have been over at 14-7. Instead SB broke a great run for maybe 25 yds or so and got out-of-bounds with :08 left. An 8 yd pass resulted in :02 left and NY nailed a long FG (maybe 57 yds?). Halftime became 14-10 and NY had all the mo heading into the locker room.

SB had 3-4 of those “you gotta be kidding me” runs today and also a great catch/run over the middle for about 20 yds.

Also was highlighted making a great block on a Bears’ blitz.

One tackle near the sideline in the 4th quarter hurt something he immediately dropped the ball and spent some time in the tent. Came back a series later looked fine.

Good catch on my mistake typing 59:43 instead of 29:43. It was not a frustrating game watching Barkley play like last week when his missed an entire series in the 2nd half and only got 4 touches after dominating the Eagles in the first half. Last week was a good game to throw him screens etc.

Sorry I misheard the bit about the bears backing off the running game. The Giants did back off of the running game the week before though.
