I was there in the early 70's. I spent a lot of time downstairs to watch the amazing electric model train set-ups and even more amazing were the table tennis players who would play there regularly. I thought I was hot sh-t at table tennis until I saw these guys playing off the table by what seemed like 5-10 feet at times! I therefore, took my talents to the dorms tables and became fairly good there!

I remember the train layout--but I was too busy for that. Tried out the chess club but didn't like that they played in the pinball room. I had trouble concentrating there, so I never did much with it at Penn State.

I never liked the HUB and I have no fond memories of the place. To me, it was cold and uninviting. In fairness, I graduated before the 73 renovations, and, of course, the more recent ones, so I am basing it only on my time at Penn State in the late 60's.

I also need to note that I lived in East Halls in my 5 terms at UP, so I spent a *lot* more time at the FUB (Findlay Union) as it had pinball, a snack bar, and a small library at the time, so I really did not need the HUB.

How about the HUB Lawn? Gentle Thursday was one of my favorite days of the year. Fond memories that I still cherish today.
