What could a college football Super League look like?

The problem with a super league would be the sum total records of the teams in it would be .500 and thus over time the big name schools that currently win a lot would lose some of their winning luster. The Harlem Globetrotters needed the Washington Generals and the big name schools that win a lot need the Vandys and Indianas and Dukes.

That and inevitably there will be one, or two, or three, or maybe more that wind up mired in the bottom half of the league for long stretches. Wonder if the increased TV revenue will be sufficient to compensate for a drop off in gate (and other) revenue.

It would look like what it would be. A league that has completely done away with the idea that the players are amateurs or, in many cases, students.

Does David hale realize psu is in the big 10, or does he just think they will drop to join this league for football alone. Real in depth analysis

Imagine the cheating to get a leg up on the competition. It would make college football programs today look like a monastery. Penn State, of course, would stay clean and therefore would never win a game.

If that is where college football is going, I think it might leave me behind. I might pay closer attention to the Ivy League, the Service Academies, or smaller colleges, maybe even local high school ball.
Before I was married I had an apartment near a Little League Field. Some nights I would walk over to get a hot dog and a coke for dinner and stay and watch the game. It was a good way to relax and end the day. Big is not necessarily better.

Interesting idea. I’m thinking that would be tough on the players, because every game is like a playoff game. Despite the appropriate focus (Akron, Akron, Akron) CJF puts on each game its hard to deny that the current system has several “big” games. If every game was a top tier team... wow, no breaks.
