What I liked most about today....

....is the fact that Drew and the offense had their worst game of the year (Drew really did not play well), but we still "ground out" an easy road win. Having the nation's #1 defense let's you still win easy even when the offense brings their "D game".
Yeah well, @ ths poit the offense shouldn't play a D game against Northwestern.

That effort won't succeed against OSU & UM. They will wear the PSU defense down if the offense cannot sustain drives in those games.
We won't know for sure until we see them actually play. Style points only matter so much. Every team has its struggles, we just focus on PSU for the most part.

They gave up their first TO of the year deep in their own territory and still managed to grind out an easy win. The defense is elite.
I think the defense is elite but we haven't played an offense with a pulse yet. We're doing exactly what we should do to bad offenses though which is encouraging.

You are exactly right Lando. This is what I believe many people do not think about. Look at the teams in the recent past. They could have easily lost a couple of these.

Correct. Our growth from 2021 to now is impressive. I just don't know if we're elite yet or just great. Can't wait to find out.

I seem to remember a certain coach at PSU that won a lot of games with defense.
Yes...so what? History is meaningless when it comes to this team. Do you think at this point the offense is good enough to beat OSU and/or Mich?

Fortunately the offense doesn’t have to win the game by itself. And I don’t think OSU or Michigan’s offenses are any better than ours. Michigan was up 14-6 over Bowling Green at halftime and 14-7 over Rutgers…not quite the offensive juggernaut you’re making them out to be.

You don't think their offenses are better? Wow ok. I mean Michigan’s team has made consecutive playoffs with their QB and RB room...all returning. They have proven it. We havent. Who said juggernaut? But, they have proven players in big games...both OSU and Mich.

He just can't ever say anything that isn't glowingly optimistic. We all know right now Michigan is better. That can change but right now.

Way to be original...your analogy was from a coach decades ago who won that way. I made an example of last year with Michigan...who has the key guys back. Sorry...u don't get it

Ohio states offense isn’t the same as they have been in years past. We don’t need 40 to beat them. The two teams they played that were anything they only scored 37 combined. Penn state has played better defenses and have scored in every quarter.

And you’re comparing them to our team which is drastically different due to a completely different QB….sorry you don’t get it. Nobody argues against PSU quite like some of our “fans”. It’s pretty comical.

No other fan base gets upset like ours does when other teams are given credit they've earned. You wrongly believe being a fan is just pretending we're better than everyone else.

I believe this offense has more in it than we have seen. Especially in the passing game. We just haven't needed to pull out any of those plays yet. Got to get Drew the confidence to let it rip. And need to get him and the WRs on the same page.

Running game does worry me a bit. Especially if we need to milk the clock for a win. The inability to run the ball when it really counts has cost us several big games recently against OSU.

I understand holding back gadget plays or formations we haven't shown, but not sure I agree we are holding back passes or not going deep. Those are basic aspects of any game...stretching the field and going vertical. For some reason, MY loves going horizontal and playing in a box. This pass game is woefully inconsistent and IMO, they aren't holding that part back.

Yep, and a number of times he said that you're never as good as you think you are when you win, and never as bad as you think you are when you lose.

Never heard him say you're never as bad as you think you are when you win..... o_O

Not much gets past you. Just a hunch on my part but I think they will be more motivated in those games. In case you missed it PSU’s “lousy” offense scored 41 points yesterday.

He implies PSU couldn't sustain drives this past Saturday which is utter bullshit - PSU scored on 7 of their 11 possessions, won the 1st Down battle and won the TOP battle by 32:08 to 27:52. PSU had no explosive plays really, but they certainly were able to sustain drives and score. Really baffling what some of these people are watching.

I also remember just last year that the same people were complaining because our scoring Offense consisted very much of explosive big plays - but we had trouble grinding out 1st downs when needed. Now this year we're doing almost exactly the opposite of that - yet the same people are still complaining.
