78 day and night. I am skinny and like it warm and I don't mind shelling out $$$ to make it that way. I have cathedral ceilings and with forced air when it is 78 at your eyeballs, it is 68 at floor level.

I grew up in a warm house. My old man would put wood in the furnace in the winter until it glowed red like he was making steel. I would be 0 degrees out and we would have to open the front door to the porch to mellow it out a bit with some cold air.

I prefer 66-68. My wife wants it 72. My parents keep theirs at 74.

I sleep with the window open in the winter and 3 fans going. Summer time it’s tough.

After the last couple nights, I'm amazed that you still have a wife.

LMAO. Great response. FWIW, I thought he recently got married and had a kid, or something like that.

Well my whole schtick has been on a hiatus. We have a 2 month old and her bassinet is in the room with us so I’ve had to adjust.

so my memory is still functioning. alas, I should have read the complete threat before responding.

Sounds like you need a ceiling fan or two to bring the heat down and warm your toes.

I wonder what the residents of northeastern South Dakota set their T-stats at the other night when the outside air temperature was -40 degrees? Assuming they were trying to keep the interior of their house at a balmy +60 degrees, that's a 100 degree differential.

Difficult enough in new construction. How about in a 100 year old leaky farmhouse?

67 when I wake up in the morning.
drops to 65 M-F the I go to work. The dogs can keep each other warm then.
goes up to 70 when we get home form work.
63 at night. Every night is a two-dog night with our 2 golden's sleeping on the bed.

69 all the time. I'd set it lower but the wife complains even though she has an electric pad and blanket on her side of the bed. She thinks the toilet seat gets too cold.

You chose an interesting number there. Is there more to the story than you're sharing?

Anyone ever get the spray foam insulation?

I was thinking about it but then saw a horror story on TV about spray foam.

Any opinion on it?

68 in the winter, 73 in the summer. Used to keep it colder at night and warmer during the day in the winter. I found that by doing that, the heat would have to run longer to warm the house up every day which cost more. Steady temp is cheaper in my house

68 in the winter, 71 in the summer. I have a geothermal system powered by solar panels on the roof. We have natural gas for cooking and we run a fireplace in the LR as much for looks as the actual heat. Electric and gas bills combined for the year are less than $1,000. I love the way geothermal heats and cools.

During winter, I keep it around 70-71 when home and then during the day when we are gone around 67-68.
During the summer, I keep house around 75 when we are gone and then in evenings around 72...and then maybe 69 to sleep.

70 year round.

The whole home humidifier on the other hand really makes a difference in the winter making it feel warmer than it is. Only wish I had gone with an automatic sensing model as opposed to a manual dial. Ah well, next time. Can't recommend getting one enough for those with forced air heat.

Also keeps the bloody knuckles and ashy skin at bay.

Put a lamp under the thermostat and turn it on when at home. The temp will read much higher and the wife will think she's gone crazy.

Set it at 68 at night and when I'm not at home, set at 71 when we are at home. One zone in the house so our master bedroom is around 65 at night most nights unless it's really cold outside. If it's sunny out, the temp in my house won't drop below 68 all day no matter how cold it is outside.. We have a gas fireplace under the TV. That's usually on in the evening when we are sitting around after dinner. That makes it nice and toasty inside.

Hover over it like a UFO.....

The mental image.....the mental image....the mental image.....

My aunt told the story that after WWll she lived in a newly built development in Camp Hill. The houses had been built hastily. A neighbor’s toilet had been hooked up to the hot water pipe. The wife liked the warmth and was upset when they hooked it to cold water.

Master bedroom 65 day....62 night. I love sleeping in the cold.

Rest of main floor 68 day...62 night.

My kids have their own thermostats in their rooms as well. Not sure what they have them set to.

I will manually override and raise the temp to maybe 70 during the day once in a while if I'm feeling cold.
I thought you were going to say master bedroom 99! And the rest of the rooms at normal temps.
