What unusual thing would you like to see in the Beav renovation?

We've discussed the new bathrooms, concessions, and chairbacks a lot. So, after seeing some other schools updates- what unusual ideas do you think PSU should do in the Beav renovation?

Blue/ white lighting like FSU's stadium end zone light show? Some sort of black lighting to make the white out glow more? Roof like at Husky stadium to trap sound?

Stone exterior. Uneccesary but more pleasing to the eye than exposed steel beams.

Logo at midfield. Enclose the third deck in the end zone and make it an interactive area. Fill in the gaps between the end zone seats and the yard line seats, and put the students on the press box side, so that the empty seats at kickoff are not so obvious.

Hideaway goalposts; they are underground and when an xp or fg attempt is made they rise up from the ground like a missile from an underground bunker. All while "Ride of the Valkyries" is played over the loudspeakers.

Whenever the refs make a bad call play a recording of Joe over the loudspeakers saying "Aww nuts"

Have the girls on the dance team wear thong bikinis.

Revise the stadium white out: have the east and west side in white with the north and south end zones in blue.

Actual Wish -

Lots of wins against quality opponents


If we are playing "What If" -

Take the funds wasted on the "Luxury Suites" and "Club Seat" expansion...... And use that money to enhance the things that have been in need of improvement (for a long time) for the entire stadium-wide fan base:

1 - Accessibity into, and mobility within the stadium (return to the 15-20 access entry gates - that was idiotically removed in the 1990s renovation, add-on/widen terrace level walkways , etc )
2 - Restroom updates (complete replacement is probably in order)
3 - Access to concessions (and Panninis, of course )

Place signs at the gates warning people that this is not a five star hotel or restaurant.

I have to say that the Black lighting thing caught me by surprise and is a wild thought. Bravo as an unusual thought. I would like to see huge banners to enhance the steel structure look of the stadium- Team bannrrs of the best seasons, all the former coaches surrounding Joe and CJF enlarged in the middle. A best of the best banner of our all Americans by decade.

Pragmatically, I would like travel lane for the upper concessions added so that people can travel past the concession area and also add more lavatories on the back side of the present circulation paths on the upper level. Also make the concessions more efficient (no cost just management).

Yes I want the press box to mirror image the other side! Add turning lanes at he hospital so that we can get on I99 quickly.

I'd like to see the concessions upgraded to include more local fare; like all ballparks basically do now - Primanti's in Pittsburgh, Chickie's and Pete's in Philly, Hard Times Cafe in DC, etc.

I wish that the stands would be covered like in most European stadiums. Obviously the field would be open to the elements. State college isn't really the best environment in the winter for an open air stadium.

The only two things that would make my experience better and neither has to do with stadium renovations (and yes I am getting old):

1. At least one five minute break each quarter with ZERO talk/music/commercials over the PA/big screens. Who else remembers the day when you actually were able to talk to people around you without shouting?
2. Widen the nine (?) mile stretch of 322 from the State College by-pass to Potter's Mills. Seriously, there is four lane access from I-80 and western PA via I99, but the highest traveled route (Harrisburg, Philly, DMV) is only two lanes for the rural stretch just outside of town?

I'd like them to use the areas under the stands better. I can see meeting areas, sports museum, buffet restaurant, and more. I also would like to see more food trucks. These are easy peasy.

I like what they are doing....but I want to keep the general facility and atmosphere the same.

It used to be pretty large gravel. When they widened to field to hold FIFA matches, they had to do away w/ the gravel because fans were throwing the rocks at the players. Go figure...

Husky Stadium-

Tear down the suites and get rid of club seats. Make it WE ARE again. All alums and fans sitting together for one cause- rooting the Lions to victory.

Good call, it wouldn't have to be a watertight dome, but some degree of blockage from precipitation (or sun) would be good.
