It's gonna be tough for him, but if he can become a demon on special teams he might have a shot.IMO, he doesn't have NFL-caliber speed for a linebacker. Yeah, he was in on a lot of tackles in his career but asking him to go sideline to sideline and handle running backs out of the backfield or tight ends on patterns may have been a bit too much. NFL game is different nowadays with all of the passing options and spread capabilities. Not sure a player with the degree of speed of Hull's is good enough to make it.
Agree. He could have a long career as a special teamer. He has what it takes to be good on special teams. If he stays healthy, he could make a nice living doing that. Or, he could turn out like Zach Thomas, who didn't have the measurables the NFL looks for, but was just a good football player. It's gonna be tough for him, but if he can become a demon on special teams he might have a shot.
Maybe Hull with be Zach Thomas version 2.0.Hull signed a FA with Dolphins
Barnes went to the Jets
Actually, he will find a camp and get his shot. He can "pick" a team where he thinks he will have the best shot. The same for Barnes. I do not think either are NFL guys, but you never know.
How can anyone say Hull isnt fast enough? He looked plenty fast to me at PSU? The NFL misses on plenty of players. It's hard to imagine that Tom Brady was a 6th round draft choice? There are tons of free agent players starting for NFL teams over the years. As long as Hull maintains his health I could envision him starting for the right team. If he was 2 inches taller Hull potential wouldn't be in question.IMO, he doesn't have NFL-caliber speed for a linebacker.
