I'd just wrestle Hall straight through and give him 2 years at 174.
See what I did there?
Sure, if you want to redshirt Hall next year. But tOSU will be tough.Yes you pulled Halls redshirt.....how about pulling Manville's red shirt?
Delayed enrollment?A lot can happen before 2018-19. Manville will surely RS next year after this year's delayed enrollment.
Manville and AJ Nevills both deferred enrollment until next year (grayshirt). Their NCAA clocks don't start ticking until August.Delayed enrollment?
Delayed enrollment?
Who could have foreseen just how important, say, Jordan Conaway would be?I hope to be wrong, but don't see him cracking the lineup. Maybe things will change. There's elite, then there's ELITE.

There was originally some talk about him at 49 or 57, but others posted he's more in the 74 range now. But since 165 and 174 are taken, could he consider 84? I can see Bo moving to 97 for his senior year, opening up 84 after a redshirt year for Mason. Don't kill me, yes I know that's a long shot, and he'd be giving up a lot of height to other 84s. But if he wants in the lineup I'm not sure what other options he has.
With Whittlake, he could redshirt a year, then move into 97 after Bo graduates.
His mental approach to wrestling is certainly elite, which is a very big asset for him and I would never bet against him.I will be extremely surprised if this happens. Manville's last HS losses were in OT to Marinelli at Ironman, to Hidlay in a few offseason tournaments (one in freestyle, one in greco I think) - he later avenged these losses twice during the season, and to Connor Flynn on a last second reversal at FloNationals one year.
Marinell is a sure-fire 4x AA according to some (I joke, but the fact remains he is a TOP recruit), Hidlay is 13-2 in his true freshman season with close losses to Kemerer and Shields, and Flynn is 16-3 on the season, having beaten Kaleb Young twice. That is pretty ELITE for recruits.
I guess some see Manville's grinding style and don't see the upside. Yeah, he's probably not going to be Nolf...
I've followed his career, seen many interviews, etc. He's a highly motivated kid who likes to work, tremendous student. Loves wrestling and has a military mindset. Is never injured, never any flakiness exhibited, wrestles everywhere ON HIS OWN, is not afraid to challenge himself by going above his head for competition and take some losses. All of the above are critical indicators of success in D1 wrestling. Much more so than what many on this board look for.
He will be just fine at PSU. He is a tremendous recruit and fits the PSU mold.
Agree with this , why worry by all accounts seems like a good kid doing all the right things. Will be a great representative of PSU, has a history of seeking competition and wants to serve our country. I can't be happier to have someone like this on the team.Mason is a quality kid who works extremely hard and will represent PSU very well. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do once he gets to campus. Don't count this kid out!
Never thought about that...Remember, since Manville is ROTC, he will not count against the 9.9.
Fantastic luxury to have. It also takes some stress off of the NLWC Slush Fund.
Beau Bartlett would be a quite a catch. Also, we are going down to see Wyoming Seminary verses Blair tonight. Any PSU prospects going to wrestle?
His younger brother is even better !!!! Hope we go hard after him....I will be extremely surprised if this happens. I don't know who the coaches are after, but the 2 guys I'd watch most closely are 120 #6 Beau Bartlett (Seminary FR) and 152 #3 Julian Ramirez (Blair SO).Also, we are going down to see Wyoming Seminary verses Blair tonight. Any PSU prospects going to wrestle?
Early word out of Sem is that Bartlett is interested in Ivy League schools. Obviously a lot can change over the next couple years.

Tiger are you going to the Sem meet tonight? I will be there with my kid and Father.
I thought about it, but my girls haven't expressed any interest in going and I'm not real motivated to leave the house after just getting home. Probably going to sit back and watch PSU tonight.
and probably in the summer, and then probably the October before and on and on and on and on hahahaTry the Search function (the magnifying glass in the upper right of the window). You'll find that most subjects have been discussed, and fully detailed, on this board. I believe Manville's situation was pretty thoroughly discussed in October, 2016.
Now that I'm on my laptop instead of my phone ... here are the ranked guys on both teams. All are (I think) uncommitted unless otherwise noted:
106 - #9 Nico Incontrera, Blair FR
113 - #4 Michael Colaiocco, Blair SO
120 - #6 Bartlett
126 - #18 Chris Cannon, Blair SO vs. #20 Jack Davis, Seminary JR
132 - #6 Zach Sherman, Blair SR (UNC)
138 - #7 Malcolm Robinson, Blair JR (Rutgers)
152 - #3 Ramirez
160 - #12 Andrew Merola, Blair JR
220 - #1 Singletary (Tanning Bed U.)
Davis is a Greco world team member and from PA.
Former PA state champ Jake Riegel is also at Seminary, guessing 126 or 132, a SR.
