Which was/is a worse time: The Cold War or the Current Situation

My son asked me to ask this question. Right now I can't choose between one or the other. When you think of Manson, Patty Hearst, Cuban Crisis, Khruschev banging his shoe at the UN and the fall of Cuba & China, the cold war was a very bad time. Currently, one can consider the brain dead tree stumps who argue that math is racist or that meritocracy is racist, it is beyond my comprehension. Dumb people who have nothing better to do than outlaw gas stoves. A Chicago mayor who says that a riot should be called a gathering. A senile President with a Vice President who is just as dumb. Two very bad periods of time.
