Who else thought that PSU was about to break out after taking a 10-0 lead vs OSU?

Actually I didn't but I was hoping. Allar faced a lot of pressure on our first drive and the OL couldn't get any push at all. The drive was only successful by throwing quickly to Singleton and Allar finding some running room. I considered that drive a loss after settling for a FG but I was reinvigorated after the pick 6. Just score another 10-14 points and we might win this game. OSU had difficulty running the ball behind a makeshift OL and if Howard was forced to throw we might get another turnover. At least that was going through my head. Unfortunately OSU marched right down the field on their next 3 drives. Our only defense was the ball fumbled over the pylon. The offense couldn't get out of it's own way.

I see a 4/5* QB, two 4/5* RBs, possibly the best TE in the country, and what we hoped was an improved OL. Surely this group was ready to break out. Just one crease for Singleton to break off a big run or just one WR making a 40 yd catch. Sadly our WRs haven't been able to get separation of win 50/50 balls. What happened to Omari Evans? And what's up with Fleming? He had 34 catches for 533 yds as a sophomore at OSU. I understand that his PT was limited playing behind the likes of Marvin Harrison but he was still a quality WR. Now he comes to PSU with all the opportunity in the world and he shows nothing.

Does this team have a mental block? Are they still on the verge of breaking out? Or are they pretty much limited to what we've seen. A good team that is unlikely to ever take the next step?

IMHO, teams don't respect any of our WRs for a deep threat. They only cover 2/3rds of the field. So they bring their Safteis in close to stop our run and corners play tight taking away our short and intermediate game. If we can't run or throw deep, we have what we have: a weak offense.

I see this trend in the NFL to get a few 4.2 guys to take the top off.

Although I believe that this OSU team is overrated, they're still too good and experienced to have been blown out by that PSU team. They always were going to find their equlibrium, and playing in Autzen Stadium also helped them. It was crushing that after taking that 10-0 lead, the defense let OSU march right down the field and score an easy td, which destroyed that early momentum. Then, that selfish unsportsmanlike penalty that kept the defense from getting off of the field, and we all know how hard that's been in the first half of games, set the tone for the rest of the game.

I think if we had KLS and Parker Washington back we would have had a shot at more of a vertical passing game but now it's pretty much down to Tyler Warren to keep defenses honest.

What's Omari Evans' 40 yd time? I thought he could be our deep threat but he's pretty much disappeared.

All I could think of was "it's way too early for a 10 point lead. Wish it was the 4th quarter".

It's ironic how that game was very similar to the 1993 Michigan game when I believe that PSU also took a 10-0 lead before Michigan returned a punt for a td and eventually took the lead, and then proceeded to stop PSU on a first and goal late in the game when it ran the ball three or four times into the middle of the line.
