Who would have thought that the upcoming game against Buffalo could be so important? Obviously, winning the game is important, but probably equally important is how the coaches gameplan and call individual plays in trying to win the game. A bit of creativity and unpredictability from the offense would be more than welcome [understatement], as well as some fundamentally sound responses to the predictable defensive pressure.
Whoever was responsible for the offensive debacle last Saturday--Donovan, Franklin, or both--needs to help develop a much more productive offense. If Hack can once again perform like the player everybody expected him to be, terrific. We all want him to have a great season. However, if he continues to have serious problems with accuracy and decision-making, Franklin may have to bring in McSorley, and we'll have to hope that the redshirt freshman can carry over his allegedly outstanding practice performances to the real games.
Ultimately, this question: will the Temple game have served as a needed wakeup call for our coaches, or simply a harbinger of a genuinely wretched season. We'll watch Saturday for the answer.
