Whole lot of PSU in this article

I don't know if I understand the rationale for having Taylor below a lot of guys in the top 10 when he has better numbers and a recognized intangibles advantage.

Not sure how Bo's best wins equal 4 NCAA titles. I count 3.

And "no one else on the list has beaten guys that have won 4 NCAA titles"?

I can think of one.

He put 3 timers ahead of two timers.

I get arbitrary lines, but then what value does his input have?
I dunno if # of titles is that arbitrary. I’d think any other primary justification (total points, dominance, etc) would have the tighter burden of proof for most fans. I get your point though.

He recognizes Taylor is in the top 5 in all-time scoring and help change the landscape of college wrestling, which to me outweighs two finals losses, one of which is to the #2 guy on his list. I do appreciate that he limits it to "since 2000" though.

HR folks won't be thrilled with this list. :)

It's explicitly AG (pretty much), so they won't be too upset.

I don't know if 2 titles ever outweighs 3. I would put 3 timers above 2 timers as well personally, but I can see the argument putting Taylor up over some others. Think about Bo making one mistake as a RSFR that kept him from being a 4 timer.

Actually Retherford defeated guys with a total of NCAA Championshps, 4x Steiber and 1x Tsirtsis, while Bo claims 3, 2x Dean and 1x Martin unless I’m mistaken. Not that it changes order in my mind but not the differentiating statistic that he intended it to be.

Also given that Retherford top win was over a four timer ranked 2 on this list seems unusual to state that Snyder’s win over Gwiz might have been a bigger win when Gwiz is a two timer not even on the authors own honorable mention list. Again doesn’t affect the order but perhaps taking some credit away from Retherford.

If Taylor faced anyone other than Dake in his senior finals match, he’d be a three timer with a loss in the finals as a freshman in all likelihood. It would be a very similar career to Bo’s placement and in dominance. At that level, one match makes the difference between being in the discussion for 4th place versus 13th or less.

Oliver's best win Tyler Graff? He must if missed the match where JO beat Stieber. For me Zain has to be higher. He wrestled his true Freshman year and made the NCAA semi finals losing to a 4xer.

But for one dropped head Taylor is a 3 timer.

It’s hard to imagine a guy out of the top 10 who by all accounts was the Lawrence Taylor or wrestling. Striking fear, demolishing the competition and changing how wrestlers approach the sport with action action action. Not to mention .5 bonus points away from a perfect NCAA but a record none the less.
