Why do people root for their conference in the post season?

I find this to be odd. Alabama winning a championship doesn’t make me look at UTjr anymore favorably. Clemson winning a championship doesn’t make me view Pitt or wake forest or FSU anymore favorably. I want all B1G teams to lose, especially scUM and OSU. We are more offend then not competing with these teams in recruiting so it make sense to root for them to lose.

For those who do, please explain to me why?
