I mean, how is delaying his deal a benefit to OSU? If Johnson is telling the truth about staying put at OSU and, OSU knows that not having him signed is being used against them in recruiting, what is the point of not having him signed?

from folks i have talked to, he is very much considering retiring. His son LJ even admitted it via social media. I think Urban probably begged him to tweet out he was staying. I think LJ Sr maybe coaches another year.

With the "negative recruiting" nonsense out there, and LJ's response, I dont see any way he can retire this Winter without losing real credibility. I think he stays one more year.
I suspect at this point in his life he really doesn’t worry about his credibility.....especially if he’s retiring. Now if he were leaving tOSU to go coach elsewhere, yeah, major credibility issue.....but we know that’s not happening.
LJ is retiring and Schiano is, obviously, looking for a head gig. Look at who they hired for their tenth coach..... Grinch is coming in from a lofty DC job to be a tenth coach??? Don't think so. OSU trying to hold off on the news until this class is locked up, but anybody with a pulse can see all the smoke going on probably means the fire is coming.
