Why not a fullback at least situational? From a Coach's perspective?

Why has the fullback been elimated on all levels of football? Seems to me a fullback leading the way would have helped Penn State in many situations. I know the argument is to pull the TE out in front of the RB but our TE's cant block. Iowa was using a fullback and it served them pretty well. How many times did you see slow developing running plays that never had a chance especially with this Oline getting knocked back all the time? And even if you say the TE replaces the FB in our scheme I didnt really see the TE out in front as much as he should? What's the deal? It sounds to me like a "de-emphasis" of the running game? We need to recruit at least two pure fullbacks every 4 year cycle and supplement it with walk-ons. I dont want the college game to turn into the pass happy NFL. Thoughts?
