Why PENN STATE FOOTBALL is READY TO SHOCK the WORLD in 2023... Are They Legit?

Not sure about "if they're legit" question - of course they are. I've seen several preseason polls and it seems like PSU is rated anywhere from 5th to 8th in almost all of them. They can definitely beat anybody in the country

The measurement of success for this program is making the playoffs. The video makes the case for being that good.

Reg season 9-3 is the absolute minimum floor with all this talent but a new starting qb, 10-2 is the my minimum expected performance but slightly disappointing, 11-1 is my prediction with an improved o-line and better overall defense, 12-0 is only within reach this season if Allar can perform at leadt as well as Clifford did last season and the interior of the d-line holds up vs UM, OSU and Iowa run games. I have not felt this good about PSU football since the late ‘90s but those teams underperformed. Missed opportunities followed by the dark age!

It’s nice to be here and to be fair during the greatest of years psu was not 11-0 prior to bowl games.

It’s not like we’ve finished top four very often lately, 1 time since 1994. That would be 3 in 2005. Prior to 1994 psu was NR in 87,88, 15,11,and 3 in 89,90,and 91. 92 was NR and 93 was 8.

Other than a few outlying years PSU hadn’t been close to the playoffs ( if they existed since the mid 80s. 3 out of 36 years.

So we haven’t been setting the world on fire for close to forty years , but looking pretty good now.

PSU certainly deserves the preseason ink. Injury is the wildcard in football. Also, few things in our world are leas accurate than "expert " preseason " predictions.
My rock solid preseason prediction is that every loss will be attributed to coaching.

This is the most well rounded team of the Franklin era, and with Yurcich and Diaz, PSU has two really first rate coordinators. Even the question marks could turn out to be strengths or fairly solid -- QB, DT and wideout. Still, a couple poorly timed injuries and a little bad luck and this team could lose 3 or four games easily.

That's the reality of competitive sport. The reason we watch games.

Probably the best team on paper that Franklin has had, so yes they should be legit. The problem to overcome however, is that according to some, Michigan has the best team Harbaugh has ever had, and Ohio State is well, Ohio State, (at Columbus)
How is losing 3 o linemen to the NFL translating to "better"...only ONE of those transfers by the way is a starter.

I think the schedule lines up well. IMO, OSU is beatable this year. I think we’ll have the better defense. I’m glad we have UM at home. Tough to win both. Just as tough for either of them too! Bring it on!
