Why would Pitt score 21+ points when YSU held them to that?

Because to hear Pitt fans tell it, they would rather have lost to YSU than have to show too much of their offense.
Pure vanilla.
These week it will be all chocolate sauce and peanuts and they're going to hang 40 on us.

I have a colleague at work who played OL at Pitt in the early 90's. He is a great guy and we've become good friends as we talk Eastern football all the time. Anyway, he warned that Pitt might come out running the back-up QB in the option. Who knows? But he mentioned that Pitt wNts this game more than any other one.

One of the best things about beating Pitt, will be the end of all these hate threads. I don't care for them any more than anyone else, but I want more than just to hammer Pitt. I want that crystal football trophy in Coach Franklins hands on that podium.

That's a hell of a lot bigger than hating some juco college in Pittsburgh, with a bunch of morons for it's fanbase.

I want Scarlett Johansen also. Who knows?

Been wondering the same thing -- I'm not seeing Pitt scoring much and I'm not exactly sure why others are?

I am about as familiar with Pitts roster as I am with any other high school in that area. Do they have an option qb on the roster?

I don't know their roster. I posted that thought merely to illustrate how Pitt is willing to go drastic to outfox PSU. My friend threw the idea out as a way to gain an early edge until the defense adjusts. I think he mentioned a name like Dinucci ... I haven't looked up the QBs correct spelling.

His fear is that Pitt will continue to play "bump and run" coverage, allowing the PSU WRs to burn them deep.
I guess I found his idea interesting, though perhaps others will not.

Because people are looking at this defense like the 2016 defense. This defense is not the 2016 defense. This defense might be the best and fastest defense we've seen at Penn State in a very long time.

Well, it could be that their O will improve a great deal between weeks 1-2.

PSU CAN LOSE THIS GAME. They probably won't, but they could.

Yes. They. Do.
We should roll, but I'll feel more confident once we build a big lead.
Nardo shot the moon twice last year. Who knows.

Fast for sure. But our D would need some serious improvement over last year to rank among the best of psu's defenses in a very long time. But you did say might. I hope you're an oracle!

"Might" is the correct term here, but there are many signs that point to this defense being championship quality and all you need do is look to the PSU history books for evidence: There are 7 5-year seniors playing on this defense, at times 8. The players who are not seniors, are special, athletically. Down through history, Penn State's greatest defenses, with the exception of the poorly coached 1999 defense(not Paterno, but Sandusky), have been filled with seniors. When it comes to defense, it matters how long you've put in work, and it matters that you trust what you see. If you watched them play vs Akron, you saw what I saw, they finally have all the communication done, long before the play is run, and now they, and not the opposing offense, are dictating pre snap decisions. This is what Pry and his assistants have been trying to get done, and now they have the personnel and experience to do it.

I'm going 48-14

Because that last time that happened Clemson was the reigning national champs.

I think you might mean that the last time that happened Clemson became the national champions. The reigning national champion in 1981, was the 1980 national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Clemson won the title in 1981, and of course Penn State won the title in 1982.
