Behind the Rokfin paywall, but we are are subscribers, right...

Talks about how the season will run starting Jan 1 with a tournament, then finishes with a possible nonPSU hosted Big Ten championship.

edit- reading comprehension can be hard, particularly if the brain makes jumps that aren’t there. No tourney to start.

Can you summarize what article states for those who are not subscribers? Thanks.

Must be reading something different it says
Out of Conference
Jan 1 Out of conference
Jan 8 No Tournaments
Conference Jan 15-Feb 21 (9 duals)
Not sure where you got season will start with a tournament. And Big 10 tournament maybe somewhere else will be decided Friday

You are right, my bad, I read Jan 1 out of conference and my brain jumped to Southern Scuffle, oh well, sorry.

wasn’t really sure how to summarize the rest because it is basically a summary. The 9 duals will be made up of duals, tri’s and a quad meet.

I figured thats what you did.Jan 1 we are thinking Scuffle. Also interesting Penn St doesn't want the tournament they want to wait for a year to pack the place.Nobody is gonna want it but it's your turn so you've to take it or they move to a neutral site for 1 year.Have a hard time believing Cael won't get his way

It makes sense to move it to a neutral site for a year, it would suck for our rotation spot to be used when people cannot actually attend.
The question is if it was at the RAC this year would Matter feel the same way

Interesting that they kept the Big 10 Tournament two weeks from NCAAs when I heard the Big 10 rule is positive and out for three weeks. Another thing I just thought of is that with that rule any positive after February 13 ends your season. I don't think they would even let you on site to weigh in and then default out of conferences to keep you in the mix for an at-large.

Good point. The big ten has been on the wrong side of this the entire way. The 21 day thing is just another example of that.

I say they may still move the date if a new location is decided on.Theyre still trying to make Penn St have it so by changing the date would let them off the hook because of arena availability.

Supposedly it is a coaches decision, do you think that makes it easier or harder for Cael? My first thought is easier, I assume most Big Ten coaches support him, or am I being naive? I know the last year of the National Duals some Big Ten coaches messed wth the match ups and Cael was not happy.
Also, is the decision a majority decision or does it need to be unanimous, of course I know we probably do not have that info.
And part of me is somewhat surprised it is a coach decision, I would have assumed those things are AD and BIG ten decisions. Same as how the rotation works when new schools are added. But maybe those are coach decisions also.

So, having the first 2 weekends of January for non-conference duals, then 4 conference duals (2 home and 2 away), then 1 quad meet and 1 tri. Would it be safe to assume the non-conference duals would be against PA schools? Also, the quad and tri meets you can have fun imaging matchups. Can you imagine a quad meet of PSU, Iowa, Michigan and tOSU.

I will bet a good bit that one of our OOC duals is Lehigh. Hopefully the BIG tournament is at a neutral site so that PSU can host in 2022.

Lehigh would certainly makes sense from a lot of perspectives; as a fan, that’s definitely what I want. I know Cael likes to ease his guys into the tougher competition though, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a couple of smaller programs instead.

Interesting that it is a coach's decision about Big 10s. I too just assumed this would be a conference decision and so it had no chance as the conference would not voluntarily take on hosting at a venue where they can't make money with no crowd.

Makes it interesting if there was one venue the coaches just didn't like they could in theory vote out of that location every time through the rotation.

If so, then we can't face Lock Haven before Rutgers.

More like: most BIg Ten coaches will grudgingly go along with Cael, if they think Cael's idea benefits them too.

“Ease his guys into competition” Like putting Carter Starocci in with Nolf, Cenzo, Brooks and Hall?

Our guys dont need “eased into competition” we ARE the competition.
I stand by what I said. Keystone Open is not CKLV; more likely to see Bucknell or Kent State than NC State or Cornell on the schedule first; or you can just listen to his interview with Basch, where he talks about finding appropriate competition for early in the season. We peak at the right time; his system works.

Im not arguing (for once) I agree we need some fish to give our guys a break from the room.
